Each to their own but I don’t get not using the NHS app.

It depends.....

I can tell you that most of my work colleagues aren't using it. At the start everyone did and actively encouraged others to.

The change came about as "cost savings" measures during covid resulted in us now losing shift pay when we are off sick, shift pay separated out from pay so it no longer counts towards pay rises and many more things. Our shift pay is a significant part of our pay.

Then anyone who was off due to covid isolating because they'd been told to by NHS or because actually had covid were treated and subject to normal HR sickness management.

As a result some with kids have had multiple isolations or caught covid.

They've lost significant wages and been hauled through the disciplinery process for their sickness record.
More than ten days off or more than two periods of sickness (regardless of length) in previous 12 mths triggers this.

When challenged on this company response has been "no exceptions".

A new rule was also brought in regarding sickness reporting.

I'm next on shift Saturday. Previously if I knew today I'd be unable to go in due sickness I'd let them know today. As a small unit it can take time to organise cover so we give as much notice as possible. One of us being missing can have a dramatic impact on the company.

This was acknowledged and sickness always counted from the day you were rostered to work.

Now it's counted from the day you make the call.

So using the NHS app, protecting others and how you react very much depends....

I feel tracked enough by the use of my phone, credit cards, car and CCTV. I don't want invasive spyware on my phone, thanks.

Since this covid bollocks started, my regular haunts have been the gym, supermarket, Ma P's and the Shell station. I've gone into the office a handful of times when I've needed to and gone into Cardiff once for lunch with Mrs P, twice to go out with me mates and twice to collect a new iPhone. I don't flout the rules and walk around without a mask and I keep my distance from people. Now, I'm isolating and I don't need gender neutral primary sibling spying on me to make sure I'm complicit.

My daughter had Covid & used the app, she took her kids to be tested & got a phone call asking why she’d left the house.

Took Bev’s glasses to be repaired.
Had Farrier to horses, may be loaning another pony to Wakefield RDA.
Trailed all over trying to get Pudsey bear headband for Granddaughter.
Tested new printer with the app, works brilliantly, just need to se the margins.

Your employer sounds quite ‘special’.

I suppose my ‘I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t use the app’ is very much driven by it being a valuable tool in containing the spread of the virus. But that doesn’t pay the bills.

The app is crap, I have only managed one input before it crashes.
Very unstable, sometimes you can't even sign in. Can't register with company phone either.

Went for a job interview today at 12 noon.
Not had an interview for 12+ years.
Guy rang me back approx 16-00 hrs and
offered me the job. Now it's decision time.
I shouldn't really be applying for another job at my age, but i'm pretty chuffed to come 1st out of 89 applicants.

Well done, mate. You'll be working till you're about 99 anyway, so you might as well go for it.

My missus works for the NHS and no-one that she works with in the hospital where she works uses the app.
They were actively encouraged to stop using it due to the number of false positives that created staff shortages.

Not really...Same job'ish, but less political in house bullsh@t...No meetings, no fire safety involvement, no managers pecking ones head...bit further travelling and a £5 grand pay increase, reviewed after 6 months probation then another pay review that could be increased by a further £5 grand.
