Went to do a job at a quarry in north Wales last week working for a Morecambe based company. Arrived on site bright and early and went to do the obligatory induction.
'Have you got your covid test results' was the first question quickly followed by 'have you got metatarsal safety boots'... what a fkin palava. We managed to get some lateral flow tests from some other contractors and then located some metatarsal boots in Elsemere Port at £85 a pair. Deal almost done I got talking to the fitter on the quarry and mentioned about the boots, he came to the rescue and said he had some metatarsal protectors in his tool box that we could have. So after 2 hours of hanging around we finally got to work in a completely fenced off area isolated from everyone else on site/earth.
Been working in Leyland Daf truck factory since then and it was an absolute breeze to get in there compared to the quarry although we have to wear masks everywhere which is a pain.
