I keep seeing very low milage birds for sale, for sometimes very silly money.

Is it just me that thinks they're very overpriced considering the amount of work that will have to be done, probably quite soon. Things like hoses that are upto 25 years old, the major 30k service, etc

I feel for the poor sod who thinks its a good deal!

I commented on a sale post on faceache last week where the seller said he thinks the engine had been replaced because its runs so sweet. It had only done 60k!!!!

Hoses yep, but major service?

Only thing on the engine that needs attention might be valve shims, but at 75k mine haven't needed changing yet.

The major service, at around 30k, checks the valve shims. It's supposed to be a big thing! Jaws am I wrong? I had mine done as I believed, or was told, that it was necessary.

Yep.. your wrong.. but not according to Honda
Officially valve clearances are every 16000 miles..
I NEVER found one out before 100,000 miles, and even then so few and far between as to make the instances a statistical anomaly
What makes it absolutely laughable though is that when every time a main stealer did a 16,32k etc etc service they always found at least one out.. and they very often managed to find this out without removing the valve cover !!! Quite amazing !!!
Basically Dan. there is every chance you got tucked up mate.. Because Honda techs know the truth too

People are taking the piss on the price of just about everything at the moment.

I suspect that they think that as no-one's been splashing out on big holidays for the last year and a bit then they've got money to burn and if they've not yet spent it on some over the top DIY house project then they'll pay over the odds for something that'll keep them entertained.

One thing epseeing the m for sale, another thing selling them.

Hiwever, in economics there is a well established theory called ‘The Greater Fool’ theory Ie there is always a greater fool than yourself around.
