It’s actually “ants in your pants” meaning you can’t keep still, no inference of ants wearing pants.

Er, not in this case. You’re correct in that such a saying exists but you’re wrong in the context to which I referred. When Aussies refer to something as being good, they call it ‘the ant’s pants’ in a similar way to how we might call something ‘the dog’s bollocks’, ‘the cat’s whiskers’, etc.

Phil, an Aussie pilot (flying with Swissair at the time) was a regular visitor to Cape Town when I lived there back in the 90s. When he was in town, he was my dive and drinking partner and he said it a lot.
