Nicely done mate (y)

I just fancied a go at whittling as I had a nice Morakniv for xmas & hadn't whittled anything since I was a kid, then the bab said she was going to school as a particular character for world book day & she carried a spoon so I started looking at how to make one which led me to finding out about the whole world of sloyd, the problem is that the pressure is on now with the little un wanting it

just messing around on a bit of scrap wood at the moment but the birch in the back garden might need trimming very soon :D

Waiting on an Old Timer whittling knife & a hook knife at the moment which should be enough to do the basics but there is no way mine are going to be anywhere near as nice as yours, any tips would be welcome

I see many cuts in my future :meparto:

Birch is ideal to carve, nice and soft. Really, and I mean really, sharp knives and take your time.

Oh yes, keep lots of plasters handy! Lol

My working knives are always sharp mate, tried a bit with the mora this afternoon & that was pretty good straight out of the box, still stropped it a while though & kept stopping for a little strop as soon as I felt the edge start to go, lets just say it gone from feck me that's sharp to feck me that hurts

The Old timer whittling knife turned up today, very nice quality little pocket knife, the main blade is comparable to a fresh out of the box mora but the spoons gouge & chisel are going to need a lot of work to cut anything like well
