Some people have the most incredible crap to deal with health wise and sometimes it's good to be reminded how lucky those of us that enjoy good health are.

Take a look at Grand Designs, series 20 episode 2 that was aired last night.

Truly inspirational.

In a nutshell, couple with most awful health problems self building a barn conversion.

If any cynical sod says 'yes but mummy and daddy gave them the land' they need to have a look at themselves.

I watched that last night and it was one of the better episodes, battling not only health but Covid and managing to keep his business going. I don't have that kind of commitment now, let alone when I was their age.

You may think it sanctimonious I see it as the 21st century trait of being jealous and negative rather than admiring something good.

I haven’t seen the programme and have no interest in it, therefore I’m neither jealous nor negative.

Oh, and mummy and daddy gave them the land. I just looked in the mirror and didn’t see anything different to the usual frightening sight.

Not everything is as it appears, when we moved to Wakefield there was a guy who lived in a block of flats in the town centre he had a Prothsetic leg & a false eye, he always wore a blazer with the Royal green Jackets crest & half a dozen medals, the story he told was that he lost his leg in the Falklands & he was very convincing until he was challenged about his medals, the truth came out, he’d never served in any of the forces, he lost his leg & eye through drug abuse, he’d bought the medals from market stalls, when asked why he lied he stated that he was in a pub & someone was taking the piss out of his disabilities so he made up the war hero story & this earned him a couple of pints, tales spread & he was seen as a hero so wherever he went people were buying him drinks.
