Gave up alcohol on January 1st....Dont drink a great deal anyway
and can take it or leave it....
Fell off the wagon last night....Couple of glasses of 19 Crimes with a steak dinner...Then a couple of Kraken rums
whilst watching some old X Files episodes when everyone else had gone to bed ...
Woke up this morning with a bad head.....This has just confirmed that I made the correct decision to give it up.
Back on the wagon now...
Onward and Upward...(y)(y)(y)

Mrs B has been unwell for a while and has been on the wagon for some time.

In a selfless display of support I joined her before Xmas. Neither of us are normally big drinkers (other than holidays, weddings, etc) and we both feel the same; not missed it at all. Well, I missed the mulled wine on Xmas day but that's it.

I gave up drinking about 35 years ago, shortly after I got out of the pub trade. Went from drinking far too much, to nothing and never touched a drop...

for 3 years. It took that long for me to trust myself not to binge drink again.

Now I probably share a bottle of wine or two of a weekend, have a beer with my fish & chips on a Friday but that's about it, aside from family get togethers (not many left so don't have many of them) and holidays.

Got a cabinet full of spirits that probably haven't been touched for years, Mrs L doesn't drink spirits & I don't drink alone.

I gave up drinking years ago just decided one day enough was enough so in the last probably 10 years i have had the grand total of half a pint of Ushers bitter with a meal (er indoors had the other half) other than that a couple of cans at a mates funeral that i didn't enjoy & regretted afterwards

I always liked dark rum but even a couple of small tots turns me into a very aggressive raging animal so haven't drank that in a very long time was sort of fun before I realized though

Right then.... as soon as this Covid bollox is all sorted we'll all pile in to your place to help clear that cabinet.(y)

The way this thread is developing, there won't be that many turning up.

I stopped drinking to speak of when I came ashore 20 years ago. I'm on 24 hour call now, so not a good idea to take a call from a client with a head like a burst couch. I had a couple of glasses of red with Christmas dinner and that was the first time I'd had a drink since my birthday in August.

I do like to get shitters once in a while on a cruise though.

Started drinking at 15 stopped heavy drinking at 18 when it became legal. I enjoy whisky, gin and red wine, but any more than a large glass and I'm completely bungalowed.

I do like a drink, although these days it’s definitely more about the quality than the quantity, can’t handle quantity any more, a nice red wine, port, and a decent rum albeit with a splash of shrub in it (never mind what Derek says).
Oh and I am definitely a beer snob, a decent cask ale served in prime condition takes some beating in my opinion.
Tea is absolute fine as well but not mixed with any of the above.

I'm not a big drinker anymore, other than work do's and celebrations, but I do like the odd glass of whisky or Woods rum while reading in the evening to unwind. I'll have wine with a meal. Mostly though I drink ale, bottles these days as there's now no access to hand pump craft. I'm the one in control though and not the booze as I can go weeks without and not worry about the next one.

Last year I was on the wagon Jan - June, Oct, November so 8 out of 12 months. Dry this year and don't know when I'll have a drink again. Could be 1st Feb. Could next foreign boys trip, whenever that is.
