Final adjustments on the garage door after replacing the cables.

Doesn't open on its own as much as I would like but without more appropriate tools I'm not going to put any more tension in the spring! Unfortunately haven't got the headroom in the garage for an electric opener, might think about pricing up a roller door,so I can have an electric opener.

I welded up the rejigged seat / fuel tank subframe for the ped, drilled and tapped some holes, painted the thing ( large cans of industrial gloss black spray paint are down to £4.99 at Toolstation at the moment ), then cut some foam for the seat.
Glued the foam to the base ( which I cut from 5/8th ply wood ) and now on the search around the house for something to cover said seat with
Its nearly done !

Have you had a good look at the garage door? Apparently sometimes they tape the adjustment tools to the inside of the door.

Thanks Derek - no sign of anything. Pretty heavy duty bars needed, didn't think my screwdrivers were up to it!!

Changed the coolant and oil and filter on the ZZR. See the state of the filter after I finally managed to remove it, tightened by a gorilla I reckon EEA69FA9-FE67-4887-9436-009095286160.jpeg6C725EB0-D68D-49DD-BBFA-70D47E3E35C3.jpegED22D819-8C3C-4283-94DD-8EFAECB7C83F.jpeg

I’ve used Power1 for many years and as it’s also the recommended oil for Busa and ZZR I’ve no reason to want to change, also I can still buy direct from the trade wholesaler. The Commando still uses freshly strained Dino juice.

I nearly had to resort to a screwdriver, but persevered with a strap wrench but it was a close call.

Carried on with the racing ped
Various finishing touches, and the worst job so far.... fixing the rear flat tyre.....
Had to remove the exhaust and the rear engine cowl just to get the wheel off
Took me all my strength and FOUR tyre levers to get the tyre off.. Bloody 10" tubeless .. I hate them !
Replaced the valve stem and it was job done..
Removed the kick start, straightened it up so it never rubbed on the engine case, and refitted it in a higher position so you can get a decent kick on it

Tomorrow it will be finished with any luck ( apart from fitting a petcock which I am still waiting for )

Next to nothing as it’s rained all day, got soaked walking miss Molly earlier, so settled down to watch the golf.

Spent the afternoon with the wife watching the Autumn Internationals on Amazon Prime, while eating stollen and drinking mulled wine.....as you do.

Sounds like you couldn't resist the temptation to hit the stuff you have got in for Xmas early.....still resisting here....just.

The penguin (with a small 'p') marshmallows for hot choclate are in imminent danger though.....

This is an annual ritual for us. Go round the supermarkets and buy one bottle of each type of mulled wine to determine which one will be the favoured one for Chrimbo. :borra2:

I used to make my own from scratch with areally fruity red wine base. Eventually worked out it is easier and better to supercharge ready made stuff from the supermarket with Brandy, cinnamon, cloves, fresh fruit and peel (pear, apple, orange), star anise and anything else that catches my eye.

And a handful of something like this...

Best made by the bucketful and drunk after filtering.

Guaranteed to get relatives dozing by lunchtime and as such highly recommended.

The 'racing ped' is done !
The seat is very poor as I cannot do upholstering for love or money, but I am happy with the rest of it
Gonna do a new thread with all the pics rather than bung up this one
