I just don't get it!
Just been reading on the BBC website that the government are going to introduce legislation to make it illegal to pick up a mobile phone while driving. Apparently there is a loophole that can allow you to escape prosecution for playing games while driving or taking photos. Taking the Piss more like. I mean surely the legislation is already in place. If you are using a phone or anything else to take photos while driving, then you clearly aren't driving with due care and attention or in full control of the vehicle.
There are so many other important things for the government to be doing than wasting time on this.

Personally i'm all for it, but consider how many cars in the UK and assume 99.9% of owners have a mobile, then how are the police going to enforce it?
They may just about scratch the surface in regards to actual prosecutions.
The amount of fuckwits I see on a daily basis using their phones whilst driving is just staggering.
It's tiresome beating yourself up witnessing every retard using a phone.
Flogging a dead horse springs to mind.

That's what I'm on about, it's already illegal. Instead of wasting resources on creating a different offence, use them instead to enforce the existing ones. Like everyone on here a day doesn't go by without me seeing lots of people driving, phone in hand. Saw one van driver the other day, phone clearly in hand turn out of a junction while changing gear too. Wonder how he managed that trick.

Junction cutters is another pet hate.
Your pulling up to a junction and the other oncoming tw@t turning right is over your side of the road cutting through the road markings.
What's up with their steering wheel?
Does it only turn half lock? W@nkers.

And then there’s those turning left from a main road into a minor road who have to first of all turn right before turning left. Don’t they realise the amount of steering available to them?

The penaties for using a mobile phone whist driving an HGV are far stiffer than the usual muggles..£1000 fine 6 points and a minimum of 1 month suspension of licence.... repeat offenders face tea and biccies with the local.traffic commisioner and further suspension / loss of licence.... Knowing all that, some still drive with the phone stuck to their ear or answer the office who call.... knowing full well it is illeagal to ring someone who you know is driving.... thats what trackers are for.
A lot of trucks have phones built in nowadays.. a big mistake imho.

Perhaps the penalty “if” ever caught should be far more.

make it an automatic 12 month ban, the same as if it was a drunk driver. As it is clearly using it deliberately, it’s not an accident like 35 in a 30 or such like.

My understanding understanding is that there was a loophole in the wording that has now been closed.

Can only be a good thing.

Saw a HGV turning on a junction, driver with phone in left hand right hand flat on the wheel.
If he had slipped he might have hit the corner shop.
It had been renovated and stood mainly on steel columns. If he had taken out one I would expect the top storey would have come down.
I know it's an if, but terrifying to watch.

While talking mobiles, great news for those that forked out a kings ransom for the unsurpassable iPhone 11 five minutes ago, the superior iPhone 12 is now available for pre-order. It is a really fantastic bit of kit that is years ahead of its time, absolutely groundbreaking and will be the market leader for years to come.

Or until the iPhone 13 is launched in January.

I have the iphone 11 but with my contract I can upgrade at any time, any data I haven’t used can be traded towards an upgrade, I am more than happy with my phone & will be sticking with it.

I'm in need of a new phone but I don't do iPhones. Much rather pay a couple of quid for an SD card than fork out a fortune for larger memory in an iPhone. Had hoped to get a Samsung S10 but they're sold out because of the cost of the S20 and I ain't paying for one of those either.

Only way to stop dickheads on phones is to make the penalty so stiff that they just wouldn’t dare. My view is nine points and a means tested fine, like a month’s wages or something. Anyone who already has three points for speeding is fucked. Get nine points on a clean licence and that’s a ban if you put one foot wrong in the next three years.
