Remember having a tyre and a stick running up and down the footpath.
Not a radial either.
I had a grandaunt in US and got a set of guns n holsters, 6 silver bullets in the belt.
Envy of the village.

Years after I was back and met a neighbour in the pub. He told me my mother gave him the guns afterwards.
I never knew or thought about what happened them. He would have been much younger.

Climbing trees & skinning knees, building trollies & flying down the big hills at stupid speed, sledging down the pit banks on anything we could find even in summer, scrapping with the enemy from the next village & laughing about the lumps & bumps with them on the walk to school the next day

Street lights going off at 10pm just after the last bus came in, quiet & dark until 6am when the whole thing started again, bread that didn't grow mold in the bread bin overnight, toasted on an open fire with dripping lashed on for breakfast then off wheelieing our bikes down the road for hours at a time in ripped jeans & a Stones T shirt whatever the weather

Good times without the need for money, phones or any of the modern crap most rely on for entertainment today

We used to slide down a grassy bank on cardboard, we then took it to the next level by setting fire to the back of the cardboard & then sliding down with mates running behind stamping out the burning grass

Told this already but used to slide down the sawdust heap on an old petrol tank.
The seam would rip your ankles if you weren't careful.

They used to make brush heads. We got hold of partly made ones which were cylindrical. Made a cart with them as wheels, six inch nails as axles.

I now know I should have high tensile nails - they bent!!!!
But it passed several hours making them.

The mean guy in the hardware always charged me well for the nails.

As a nipper we lived next to a school that had a net ball pitch painted in the play ground. We created a game were we used old 45's
as a 'puck'. We had to ride over them on our bikes and lock the back wheel on the 45 causing the back wheel to step out and fire the 45 across the pitch.

I do wonder how many 'now priceless' 45's we ruined.
My elder brother and sister couldn't figure out where they were disappearing to!
