Got out of work to find a text message on my phone, looks like we have sold one of our fields for just what we were expecting, good bonus for my retirement.

If I was a racketeer I would hang onto the land until it got planning permission then sell for over a million.;)
You never know Derek...you said I had no chance getting permission on the temporarily waterlogged site that I was looking at some time ago.

Fail.

I'm pleased to say.

I like this retirement lark:aplastao:

Doesn’t surprise me Andy, local to me there is a field that for half the year is like a big lake, houses, school & retail park about to be built on it.

In fairness it was only waterlogged as there had been biblical rain.

Nothing that a bit of drainage won't sort out.

Just need to find a builder who wants to buy it now!!

They are building on the flood plains in two different places in Tamworth, obviously they are putting up banks to contain the water but I cant see it being effective considering the amount of water collecting where the two rivers meet, the current defenses barely contain the sheer volume as it is & reducing the amount of space available by building on it can only make things worse

Funnily enough the wife of one of the council members works for a one of the builders while he is on the planning committee

There is a trading estate near to me, built on a flood plain, the clue is in its name Marsh Barton. It is now almost fully developed over the past 40 years or so, but to build on the most recent parts they have had to lay down millions of tonnes of hardcore to raise the sites by around 10/12 feet, that alone took several years.
