Still kickin' it!
Well... had a listen - and Paul Simon's still "the man" for me - although listening to
just one song can't possibly be the basis for any meaningful conclusion. It's just that Simon's
songs are so understated, yet the drama within them is so well represented.

The other thing is the degree of acceptance that his writings create in me, as I listen. I always used
to wonder what being a boxer has to do with his song - boxing's never mentioned until the end of
it, yet somehow it "fits" and provides context.

I also remember an article from many years ago, in which Simon told of his struggle to create a believable
link (is it a "middle eight?") for Bridge over Troubled Waters. He never did, so used the "Sail on Silverbird,
sail on by" bit. Nobody (up until that point) had ever pointed out that it had nothing whatsoever to do with
the "story" of the song - but it "fits". Daft, I know; but that's how his music makes me think, I guess.

Got into these by accident as they're played a lot on the American station I was listening to in Singapore. Awesome track:

The link I put wasn’t a perfect example, that song was written for Celine Dion & she had a big hit with then old meaty brains comes aling & sings it just as well.

The first of their songs I heard was 'Trenches' and I started listening to some of their stuff on the back of it. I was not disappointed, they're a great band (y)

Three o'f'ing clock this mornin' I woke with this rattling round me edd and I couldn't get back off for ages. I love this, one of the best from one of my all time favourite bands, particularly the way it changes direction to sound like a completely different song around the mid-point. Permanent fixture on me playlist, this one (y)

Great ditty, always makes me smile but with a lot of sadness, found them on YouTube loved them, 6months later attending The funeral of the son of an old friend (far too young) his coffin came in to this and made me smile as it just about summed up Nathanial and his sense of humour.

RIP Nat riding and shooting with Dad and uncle Nick now.

WTF...?!! :qmeparto:
They reminded me of the bastard love-kids of an orthodox front-wheeler and a Beverly Hillbilly. I couldn’t get the Beverly JewBillies out me edd after that.

Well spank my ass and call me Charlie! I would never have had you down as listening to the Murphys, Dezza (y)

Here's me fave, another permanent on me workout and driving playlists

Love the Murphys, unfortunately I’ve never got to see them despite appearing at Leeds Uni several times, not sure that any particular one of their songs is a favourite, if I had to pick one it would probably be between the worker’s song, dirty glass or maybe even Tessie.
