I’m getting older & much as I love the bird she ain’t getting any lighter.
Been looking (online) at Honda NC750, still quite a weighty bike but centre of gravity is lower & I would be able to put my feet flat on the floor so manoeuvrability would be easier.

It's not important what you ride, just that you ride. (y)

How about some stabilisers? Just like a Trike, you do not even need to put your feet down. (y)

The thing is the Bird is the ultimate bike, never been bettered & once you’ve had the kudos of owning & riding one anything else would be like a Premiership Footballer playing in the second division.

What ! ? ? Have you been drinking this early in the morning :crazylick: Don't get me wrong they are great bikes but ultimately flawed as stock, nothing that cant be sorted & still a viable high speed sports tourer today But the ultimate NO just NO ! :p

Anyway on to your question ...... Nothing wrong with riding whatever you can for as long as you can & if the NC750 takes your fancy go for it (y) not sure about the comment of getting your feet flat though they look a tall bike to me ?

Agreed, matey. But if you’re struggling to move the old bus around, it can be a bit intimidating; and if you’re not 100% confident with your slow manoeuvres it can be downright scary! (I bought a lowered Corbin seat not long ago - brilliant if you want to put your foot down flat on the road when you stop - you should try one ).

As for slow riding; I’ve always had a quiet little area where I can practice my slow stuff and your post has reminded me that it’s been a while, so I guess it’s time to go and do some “homework”! Try it - you might like it. (y)

It’s not the slow manoeuvring when riding that’s the problem it’s when I’m off the bike or when I’m sat on her & moving her backwards between two cars to get her into my garage.

I was always wary of the BIRDS weight, until I bought the Crosstourer. Now that's a heavy bike! I bought it for the more sat up riding style,
as a week of riding the BIRD would cripple my wrists.
BUT....
This has made the BIRD more enjoyable, as it no longer feels like the big lump it is!

Daft bugger! :p

I must be twice as daft, though, 'cos it makes perfect sense to me! :D

Daytona boots have a version with thick soles, mainly with women in mind, but it doesn't show on the outside of the boot.

So Derek, girl's boots for you and keep the Bird.

Half the reason I stopped riding by the time I had got anything out of the shed I needed a little lie down :)

I had never sat on a bike & paddled it around as that's for old men & girls :D but when I found that was the only way to not end up in a world of pain I went to a smaller lighter bike but was thrashing that to death so gave up :( still got the urge to ride but its quite literally a pain
