200MPH on UK roads

Over 89 metres per second and with other traffic on the road as well. Intelligent. Real intelligent. Shouldn't be too hard to trace him; there's not many cars out there that can hit that sort of speed, even though it was probably 'only' about 185 to 190 MPH in reality. A lot of traffic cops are motor heads and one of them will recognise the manufacturer from the dash and someone will know the motorway and it'll all be narrowed down from there.

It looks like the dash of an Audi to me but I wouldn't swear to it. That then indicates R8, so..........

Cock.

Crazy! he’s a criminal arse and must be given jail time when he gets caught and plenty of it - and I sincerely hope he is and quickly. Then confiscate the car and crush it in front of him.

On another note, isn’t it amazing how long it takes even a supercar to get to a high speed? I often wonder why Clarks-twat and co. extolled the virtue of this and that hypercar and its amazing top speed. The reality is that they cannot do the speeds quoted.

I was at Bruntingthorpe a few years ago doing a photo shoot with my Busa turbo, and while we were there a car magazine were testing a Ferrari 458 Italia and a Lambo Aventador ( I think it was) and with a 2.5 mile long runway they were unable to get anywhere near their top speeds. On 2 wheels we were well over 200 and back to sensible inside a mile and a bit. Bruntingthorpe is far smoother than any motorway, but still has really bad corrugations that manifest most at extreme speeds, I shudder to think how unsafe that cars speed was on “just a motorway”.

I thought speeding was ok but 'inappropriate' speeding isn't............

I get very confused on this site.

There is speeding and there is taking the piss.

This clown falls into the latter category. Nothing confusing about that

I read that a Bugatti Chiron can get from zero to 250 to zero in less than 2 1\2 miles.

True, there are maybe a couple of exceptions. Mostly priced at - you cannot possibly ever afford one! Your £150k-£200k supercar isn’t that super. There was a time when I was at RAF Woodbridge and there was a ‘Dodge Viper race car with supposedly 1000hp that took several runs to just crack 200mph. There were stock ZZR1400s doing 205 that day (stock with an ecu flash and 1 tooth off the rear sprocket) Cars are just not that super.

They:

  • Go round corners better than motorised cycles
  • keep you dry
  • keep you warm
  • are comfortable
  • Look better than motorised cycles
  • Don't make you look like a knob unlike motorised cycles

We are all here on this forum because of a very fast motorcycle, so I suspect that most of us have, when the opportunity has arisen, twisted the throttle slightly further than is permitted I know I have and it feels great, in fact during my youth I would take my race bikes out on the public roads to test them, all highly illegal but it happened.

They:

  • Go round corners better than motorised cycles - four wheels v two, not much of a contest but not much fun either.
  • keep you dry - no arguments here (unless it's a 1970s British Leyland HoS).
  • keep you warm - obviously. However, you'd be surprised at how much wind protecting is afforded on a GS Adventure. That 30 litre tank is amazing for more than just carrying fuel.
  • are comfortable - matter of opinion but there are some very comfy bikes out there.
  • Look better than motorised cycles - not nessie celery. I've not seen anything motorised as achingly beautiful as a Duke 916.
  • Don't make you look like a knob unlike motorised cycles - and you've never walked down the street and seen some tool in a 15 year old Imprezza with an overly loud exhaust and thumping out the most shite dance music?
Some responses.

Every single bike I have had on the road has been absolutely flat out at some point during my ownership & considering some of the stuff I have had you could say I have bent the law just a little (its only illegal if you get caught :D )

Being absolutely honest there is no point owning a fast motorcycle or car for that matter if you are not going to use it as intended at some time :)

Never mind could have or should have, nobody died, nobody got so much as a scratch so absolutely no harm was done & the safety Nazi's can kiss my skinny ass as far as i'm concerned :p

And show me someone who has never exceeded the speed limit and I will show you a liar.

Of course we have all done it. I am no different, but as you said there is no offence if you are not caught and 99% of us don't take the piss (well not by much anyway...;) )
