We have been told to stay in doors for 3 weeks ( though to be fair I can see that being extended )
The London Blitz lasted 11 weeks..
That is 11 weeks of sleeping in tube stations, in damp and smelly shelters and even under stairs, all the time not knowing if there would be a tomorrow, or if in that tomorrow you would have a home to return to..

Kinda puts in to perspective the small sacrifices we are now being told to make

Amusingly I rang my mum to check up on her yesterday and there was no answer. I called back a few minutes later to be told 'I couldn't hear the phone as I was in the cupboard in the hallway'.

I explained it wasn't much good hiding in there!!

Or maybe the island of Malta ?
From june 1940 to november 1942 it was under siege and the most bombed place on earth.

Holland's book on the siege of Malta is next on my reading list.

Always fancied visiting Malta to learn and witness the effects of the siege but haven't got round to it. Anyone been?

I was there in December 2018 for about a week. Unfortunately, we were surveying a cruise ship and working 16 to 18 hours a day so I didn’t see much of the place. We had to go offshore for bunkers for 36 hours (VAT avoidance) and the views leaving the port were quite impressive.

Wrong Air Force.

By Herc.
I was buzzed by a Herc not too long ago down here - came straight at me at very low level while I was driving, low enough to scare the poo out of me. Anything you want to tell me?

Not sure they should have been that low but I loved it, but probably not as much as the crew did:)

Where were you when it happened...?

Tactical training exercises are generally down to no more than 250ft, although in certain select areas they can train down to 50ft.

My first school was in Malta, we lived in a flat in Valleta, my dad was in the RAF. I have some good memories of the place. But I think it might have changed a little since I was there.

Brilliant place for scuba diving not forgetting the island of Gozo.
A place steeped in history, loads of ww11 stuff, the wreck of HMS Maori is still in Valletta harbour, really friendly people (especially down in the gut).

Just off the A27 near Alfriston, just going past Drusillas Zoo.

East Sussex, near France.

No reason for a Herc to be low around there. No airfields there that a Herc would put down on, No Military Low Flying Zones and no scheduled execises.

Someone is keeping tabs on you....
