You do know i'm dealing with a 32 bed
all male rehabilitation hospital?
Well you do now.....
All residents are section 17 under the mental health act and have free roam inside the hospital.
They have no idea about 2 metre social distancing.
Nor any concept of danger or reality for that matter.
...but you're right, I should man up, but I don't think my boyfriend would
like it if i stopped being a raging poof.:D

A good mate & an ex mrs both work at well known psycho hospitals where the (ahem) clients are never getting out so I have some insight into what they deal with every day, if you work in one of those places in any capacity you have my utmost respect

Just remember to be nice when I am admitted :D

I went to one of those places in Cardiff several years ago as part of my job (government surveyor) at the time. Whitchurch Hospital in Cardiff. The building itself was enough to make the hairs on the back of your next stand up; Edwardian, which was as impressive as it was imposing.

Anyhoo, the Polish chief mate on a cargo ship docked in Barry went off on one and ran around trying to duff everyone up on the ship. They all barricaded themselves in their respective cabins so matey boy decided to run amok with a fire axe, trying to slash his way into the cabins. Not long after, flashing blue lights, etc. He ended up being sectioned and sent to Whitchurch for assessment, so numb nuts here had to go and interview him before he was deported. He was being held in a ward where the residents were allowed to roam around in their own clothes and their sleeves weren't tied behind their backs. They couldn't leave their wards but were free within, so I'm not sure what level of residents they were classed as. Some were quite docile and polite but a few approached me and dribbled at me and one in particular decided to rant at me about aliens coming to get him. I don't scare easily and I'm not the smallest guy around but I have no shame in admitting that I was uncomfortable to the point of being concerned, even though I had an escort.

Too be fair some of them are errrm controllable to a point, but just like the prison service..
(which all of them have come from at some time in their lives) they bring their prisoner edjucation with them.
By that i mean that they all stick together like glue and duck and dive and sherk their way out of any responsibilty.
Most of them are drug dependant and have their bitches, look out's and gofer's, just like prison.
Drugs do come into the unit on a regular basis as they are very innovative in that respect.
They have all day to lounge about and scheme grand ideas.
This year is my 11th tour and i can honestly say that in that time only one individual i can remember has actually
made a normal life back in civvy street, probably because his dad is a millionare and has self funded his sons full recovery?
It is a huge money making racket for the owner...personal profit this year £900,000.
The rest of us, except management...No bonus...F@@k all...Nada!

My girlfriend has just been moved back to the male ward from P.I.C.U. ward. Way more people on the ward keeping her busy as hell, but not as stressful in terms of being hyper alert to danger. Until now that is, no masks of any sort and only poxy little aprons. Doctor was called to the ward for a patient and asked why aren't staff wearing PPE? What PPE? We ain't got any, he was told. At least they've now closed the ward to visitors but still no masks.

Ever been to Rampton? (the village) the first thing you are told is if you hear a siren get inside & lock the doors/windows then don't move until told to

I thought it was funny at first & as it was in my drinking days was hoping for a siren to go off while we were in the pub resulting in a long lock in but after talking to some of the locals I found out quite a few worked in the hospital & that the advice was deadly serious, I found it quite unsettling & was never comfortable there without even setting eyes on the hospital :(

No mate, not been there and not (I hope) ever likely to. What I did was a one off and I became known as the only surveyor in the agency to ever visit the loony bin as part of the job. I’m not sure if any of the criminally insane were banged up in there. One of the staff was telling me that they occasionally had calls from local banks, estate agents, etc. to let them know that one of the residents on day release was outside their establishment mowing the pavement in their night clothes or something but no one was ever whacking peoples heads off with a gas axe or anything.

The thought of hearing a siren and having to go indoors and batten down until told otherwise sounds quite disturbing :yikes:

I have been in some right dodgy places in my time & never worried overly about any of them but that quiet little village really did unsettle me to the point I don't ever want to go back again

Same here, most of which were where no one speaks English. Most recently was Callao in Peru about last May. The ship’s agent and me were hanging around in his van near the port on a Sunday morning, waiting for the launch to take me offshore. I hopped out of the van to phone Mrs P and the agent went into a flat spin and leapt across from the driver’s seat to my side and practically dragged me back in by the scruff of my neck. He basically told me I’d get shot for my phone before I knew what day it was. Not a nice area, especially when off the main roads.

I’m strangely curious to visit Rampton village now, just to feel the atmosphere for myself. I was always weird as a child and nothing much has changed :D

Yes I have been a few times but got it spoilt for me when a local said yobbos had burnt a lot of it down in the 80's so what we were seeing was a reconstruction, I don't know how true that is
