My learned friend should watch Mrs. Brown's Boys - D'Movie. He would there discover that the aforementioned Mrs. Brown was feckin' exhonerated.
If exonerated (which I think is unlikely)......maybe legally, certainly not morally.

Its the likes of you and me that pay into the system while this lot don't but are happy to take from it.

Don't mistake this for something similar to pension contributions being tax free - this is just a mechanism to avoid paying tax....and one that fails the 'sniff test' in every possible way.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41886608

Plenty of others as well. At least Jimmy Carr had the decency to admit he made an error of judgement, this lot just take th e high ground by saying that everyone i.e. panorama and the press are picking on them...but don't have the balls to challenge them in court.

Hopefully HMRC will have their day in the sun on this.

They're from Eire, you know, so they're not dodging our tax system and the only money that we give them is through EU membership. If that's what's bothering you then does this mean you've finally seen the light regarding Brexit..? :D

I’ll let you know next time I’m confronted with that shite. Which is likely to be never as Mrs Plops finds it as funny as migraine.
We were so underwhelmed by the Christmas TV schedule that we watched the entire collection on iPlayer. The film was on one of the streaming services and yes... it's shite.

Wherever they are from and wherever they should be paying tax the principle is the same....they aren't.

If you are ok with that then fine....I'm not!!

We have friends who have never watched Gavin & Stacey - I was actually quite jealous that they binged the whole lot over Xmas.

The main difference being that some people can afford to pay for best advice to "manage" their money.

It really isn't that simple.

The problem is that it is up to HMRC to investigate and rule whether a scheme is legal after it has been set up.

so anyone can give advice (in this case an accountant who is,shall,we say, 'well known for playing with Fire' in terms of compliance) and set schemes up and worry about whether HMRC will rule against it some years in the future.

It's no different to the wheeze in the 1970s of people being paid in kruggerands - face value (on which they were taxed) bore no relation to the monetary value of the base metal.

Cheating thieving pomd life the lot of them.

I'm not OK with people dodging their fair (emphasis on fair) share of tax payments, but equally I'm not OK with the money gathered in taxes being wasted.
Case in point.... Why are we still giving oversees aid to countries that don't need it and/or don't deserve it..?

I agree. About foreign aid. As far as I am aware we are still giving aid to India ...you know the on, the India with a space programme..

I don't agree with anyone dodging any tax that is due. Whether it is a billionaire or the local builder who wants paying in cash.

I am having a row with The Information Commisioners Office (ICO about why I (my company) and millions of others should pay them £40"a year because I hold data relating to tenants on computer.

I comply with Data Protection Act In this regard and they are unable to tell me what I get for my £40 annually. Other than the threat of a £4000 fine if I don't pay it.

The reality is that it is a new government department that needs funding...basically another stealth tax.

If Mrs Brown, Amazon, Starbucks and many, many others actually paid tax in this country (or anywhere else for that matter) on their earnings in this country the rest of us wouldn't have to keep stumping up for ridiculous stuff like IFO.

I've just gone on their website and followed their questionnaire to discover that in my position as newly self -employed I'll need to pay them the £40 fee too.

I don't understand why though. If you've organised your business to be GDPR compliant then surely that supersedes the ICO's little "scam"...?

No, due to the nature of the business that I've just started (mobile apps and websites) I was advised to do it.
