My mate is selling a BMW so I went for a test drive, I pulled away from his house, some twat tooted his horn at me & shouted something about indicating, idiot nearly went into my arse end, travelling along at about 100mph when A car about quarter of a mile up the road pulled out of a side street so I put my foot down & drew alongside him as he chose to ignore me up close behind him flashing my lights, I pointed out the error of his dangerous actions but some people refuse to be educated.
I was approaching the M1 slip road so I decided to slow down to a sensible 90mph, gets to the bottom of the slip road & there were idiots blocking me from reaching the BMW lane (should be separate slip roads direct to the BMW lane for BMW’s), eventually managed to get to the BMW lane despite people going at least 70mph in the lesser lanes, imagine my fury when I came up behind a Vauxhall insignia creeping along at about 90mph in my lane, I gave him a dose of my displeasure in the shape of flashing headlights, blasts on the horn & shaking my fist at him, I never realised how many non BMW’s break the law by using the BMW lane.
Eventually got back to my mate’s & returned the car, I told him I’m not going to buy it as it would be too stressful & I don’t want to lose my license through the ignorance of other drivers.

BMW drivers don't know what indicators are :couch:
I knew that some smart arse would make that comment!!

I thought you were better than that Minkey:D

As a point of interest, my new BMW will not change lanes on the motorway unless the indicator is on. There is a fix to disable this though.

As a point that’s way more interesting, I got out of mine at my last day of work couple of weeks ago. Took brief case out of boot and then tried to lock her as usual. Nothing. Tried again and nothing again. I thought I’d pressed the wrong button on the fob so looked at it and pressed it again. This time, still didn’t lock but she tooted the horn at me. I then realised she wouldn’t lock because I’d left the engine running.

1. I’m a knob; and,
2. My diesel is astonishing quiet at idle :p

1. Agreed

Um, I don’t have to touch the car to open the boot. I can do it from the fob. I declined the option to waggle my foot under the boot as some scumbag could do it as I was getting into the car.

Bad news I’m afraid....they can open the boot anyway.

You are just a cheapskate who wouldn’t pay for goodies....

Not in the time it would take me to get back out of the car they can’t. The only options of note that I didn’t spec are the sunroof, reversing camera and the tailgate openy thingy. I spec stuff I want, not things I see as pointless.

They have made the options a lot simpler (and cheaper!) now - essentially four packages plus a few stand alone items such as tow bar, driver assist, interior trim and that’s about it.

Mine has them all except the tow bar(y)

I was never bothered about having a sunroof but was converted by the panoramic job in the GT. very pleasant being flooded with light....until the sun comes out!!

I must admit, I thought about the roof but it adds a shed load of weight and I’m too much of a hippy to add to the fuel consumption.

I’ll see what happens when I decide to renew mine but the reversing camera is one I could live without. I’ve had them in hire cars (SUVs) in the States and they’re a pain in the derrière. I found myself focusing on the camera screen instead of looking over my shoulders and using the mirrors. Nearly came a cropper on a number of occasions. They’re ok for silly little women in huge 4x4s that they can’t park but not for the rest of us.

Reversing camera is now standard! As is Park Assist ie car parks itself for both parallel and horizontal parking. Which I like.

A few quid more gets Park Assist Plus which gives all round cameras with remote access
