My aim, in buying this, is to get a bike where I am sat more upright, with a view to a few trips were the trip meter will pass the 2k mark within a few days.
Now I know my Bird is more than capable but I'm not while riding the Bird!
I love the build quality of a Honda and had thought about the Crossrunner. But while looking at Varaderos for a mate, I spotted this and liked it enough to go and have a test ride.
I had thought about the flat bar conversions for the Bird but as mine was bought while it was wearing a LSL bar conversion and Vario screen that were soon discarded
as butt ugly and totally the wrong riding position for the Bird, I couldn't and wouldn't consider going back.
My Bird fits me like a glove, it's just I don't think I can do a week long tour of mile munching on it, any more!
So come the spring, the XT660X will be on its way. Good fun bike that has a good following, but I'm struggling to get along with the single cylinder vibration.
I recently bought a 125 Varradero for my grandson and he's dragging me out in all kinds of weather, so I'll use it through the winter and then pass it on.
The Cross tourer, to me, is an unusual bike, usually a manufacturer brings out a superb bike and then detunes it and the second bike is a shadow of the original. (Blackbird - X11)
Where as in this case the VFR1200F was not as good as what was expected and the lower spec bike has been better accepted.
But then Honda was going to have to do something special to better the Blackbird!
