Insurance Question

I’m thinking of changing my stock rear shock for a Nitron unit.
My question is would this be regarded as a notifiable modification for insurance purposes.
Thanks

More than likely yes IF you’re moving away from original specification ie spring rate /ride height.

Yes, but as long as you tell them that it's not a performance mod then it'll probably not make any difference to your premium.
I swapped mine for a Nitron and the premium stayed the same.

In my book always best to tell insurers of any change to standard - generally they won't up the premium unless it affects performance or makes it look more attractive to thieves. Suspension mods shouldn't change anything.
If you don't disclose and then have a claim insurers can refuse to pay out if not told of change.

Anything like that I put it to them as a safety critical upgrade & as they know any stock shock will be knackered soon after the bike leaves the factory they wont bother up the premium ............... unless its £2000 plus worth of Ohlins you stick on
