Loved that bike. Did 140,000 + miles on it then some tosser rode into the side of me and wrote it off

First bike I had with a decent fairing, good mirrors, comfy riding position and easy to work on.

Not the fastest with a top speed of around 130, but plenty quick enough for most situations.

If I was still able to ride, I would have another in a heartbeat if I could find a decent one.

My Blackbirds were brilliant and I loved all 3 I owned, but there was just something about the 900 that made it my favourite, and I have had a few bikes I have really liked/enjoyed.

I had one of those briefly in the early 90's. Even with an Eddie Lawson replacement seat it was a bit of a handful stood still. I remember pulling up at traffic lights one busy, sunny Saturday afternoon in Aldershot. I went to put my left foot down and found I was on a camber...

Sold it very soon after..!

I've still got the bike I said I'd never sell... a year 2000 red Ducati 750SS.

RVF400 NC35, the noise at full chat was incredible. I seem to recall 13 or 14k rpm. Fabulously agile and probably responsible for my knackered back.

I’ve had plenty of bikes that on reflection I should never have sold, 20/20 h8ndsight and all that e.g. Triumph Grand Prix, postwar rigid with the Lancaster bomber auxiliary engine fitted, now mega money. A couple of my Hayabusas should have been kept, although the turbo would have had me locked up. So I’m left with my existing 1999 Busa I’ve had for a couple of years that I WILL NOT SELL.

I’ll sell the Bird though to make way for a Rob North triple I know of that wants a new forever home.

I only ever said that about my first ‘Bird. I had to sell under a cloud and left my dealer in tears.

I’m thinking my baby Panzer is a keeper. They’ve apparently been discontinued because they didn’t sell as well as BM hoped. I’ve heard of quite a few being snapped up and kept as ornaments in peoples’ lounges. 34CF62A7-6DF8-4A01-AADE-18B738EF74D5.jpeg

The longest I’ve kept a bike is about four years so can’t really say any were keepers, I was gutted when I had to sell my first bird.
I’ve had my current bird for about four years now, love her to bits but due to health conditions I will probably have to let her go in the not too distant future, toyed with getting a lighter bike but nothing would give me the thrill that the bird does.

Enjoyed this the most after making it mine and would have kept it but was too much like
hard work keeping up with everyone else.

Don’t do it, you’ll regret it. Better to have a ‘Bird and ride it once a year than to spend the rest of your days regretting it. At least keep her until you’re too old to swing a leg over.

It’s not an age thing, it’s muscular, it’s already getting harder to swing my leg over, I can tear a muscle just by putting my boots on.

fj1200 3cv. & loved it
Sold privately to fund the Bird.
Guy I sold it to had it about a month and
then trashed it and himself when he clipped (his words) a tractor after overtaking on a narrow lane.

My TL1000S. Absolute nutter of a bike. Part exchanged it 15 years ago for my bird and regretted letting it go ever since. But they will have to dig a big hole when I go cos the bird is getting buried with me.

Probably a 250 continental engine someone had stuffed in it if it was a 250 or a the frame from one if it was actually a bullet engine, I had one with a triumph 500 twin in it

My first "keeper" was the first gs1000s I bought around 82, rebuilt it from the ground up & owned it for at least 14 years & only sold it when my twins came along as we needed the cash, if it hadn't gone then I would still own it, FMV 148V if you see it kicking around I want it back no matter what the condition !
