here we go again....

I have sympathy for their cause but when will they get it into their heads that severely disrupting the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people is not the way to gain support.

As you say, pissing the general public off is not the way to win friends and influence people...and it's funny how they pick cities where freedom of speech and the right to protest are protected. I'd have more time for them if they made their protests universal. Beijing and Moscow for starters.....

Sorry john, can't agree with you.

Generally young people are amazing. Rotten apples in every barrel.

In your day it was mods and rockers.

In my day it was football hooligans.

Ok.... we all have different perspectives Andy..
From my view point the people involved need to get a better grasp on reality, stop messing with peoples lives and start finding solutions rather than making more problems
As mentioned before, the whole of the uk add 0.2% to the total problem
If we managed a total C0 free status it would make absolutely no difference, yet they studiously avoid the places that COULD make a difference such as India, Russia and China ( though to be fair, India is doing something about it )

As long as the oil juggernaut ( and indeed big business ) has such a strong lobby and control over governments little will change

You are right andy its not the way to gain support but it is the way they are getting their message across & getting it debated by all, ourselves included.

Don't think I support their actions because I don't, you can chuck the whole lot of them in the Thames for me & I wouldn't blink, but they have the legal right to protest & have the balls to do it, however when they overstep the mark as they seem to be doing recently I'd happily turn a blind eye to a spot of police brutality

I have been known to protest legally when something is wrong going back years, miners strike, poll tax, petrol & even for your right to ride a motorcycle without restrictive & pointless regulations (MAG) yes it causes disruption but that's the point (as above) As much as I detest them I don't see that these fuckwits are doing anything I wouldn't do in support of my beliefs.

If the rest of the country stood up for their beliefs instead of being armchair critics maybe the muppets in government would finally take notice of us normal folk & something would get done, frigging brexit for a start !

Personally I think it is OK because it's all in London!
They blocked a road in Leeds city centre for a couple of weeks with a boat on a trailer, when they shifted it they used a big diesel guzzling 4x4.

I think we generally agree...and I certainly agree with the right to protest in a lawful manner......but this is hurting the wrong people, people who cannot go about their normal daily lives and earn a crust due to their actions.

The fact they were driving a diesel makes any credibility go up in smoke.

Literally.

I think that's the point, make the general public uncomfortable & hope they will see your point of view or at least get on to those with the power to change things

In all honesty there is little else the likes of us can do to change the way our country is run, democracy is broken & has been for a long time, maybe its time to give anarchy a chance it can hardly be worse than what we have now

Hah! The 'government' is too scared to make the BIG tough decisions that would make a difference! They're too worried about being re-elected; if they did any REAL things like force freight travelling more than 50 miles onto electric rail services, ban all cars (and motorcycles) over a certain age or pollution output, raise taxes to supply the cash to quadruple the public transport system and ban the sale of petrol & diesel cars within a decent time (say 2 years) make all buses electric, ban air travel for holidays and non-essential travel, no more touring with cars, caravans & motorcycles (and a whole list of other things) they'd never get a single vote in the next election.

And that's why we're relatively safe to carry on riding our Blackbirds - for now LOL - especially as members of parliament own a lot of classic cars they don't want drastically devalued. Uh huh...

I notice yesterday the gov.uk gave another gas-fired power station (being converted from coal) the go-ahead - contravening the Gov's own targets for the year that it will come on-stream.
Laugh? I barely raised an eyebrow...

Not to mention all the plastic bags and bottles they leave scattered every where.. And the big 4 X 4 ( that has pump or injector fault judging by the black smoke it chucked out ) they used to tow a boat away at another protest point
