So called professional cyclists

No doubt that was a disgusting bit of riding.
There was a programme on either 4 or 5 earlier this week that included that clip. It also had a balance to it in showing that all classes of road users are capable of being stupid, irresponsible and dangerous.

I beg to differ if I'd done that maneuver in my works vehicle (when I worked) I would have creamed both nag and rider, it's hard to undertake in a 40-foot double deck truck.
As an aside, not sure why you are calling the cyclists 'professional'. Nothing to indicate that, but plenty to indicate the opposite??

I used to compete regularly in time trials as an amateur - they always started very early on a Sunday morning to ensure minimal impact on anyone else. And to stay as safe safe as possible from the idiot drivers who have no regard for the safety of others.
As an aside, having read the article and now appreciating they were taking part in The Windsor Triatholon, a fairly major event, it is highly likely that the roads were closed and the horse rider should not have been on the road at all. So maybe my initial comment at 'disgusting riding' may well have been wide of the mark. As indeed the Metro article may be, as indeed may the horse riders'.

5 of us on our motorbikes were wandering around France a few years ago, mainly using backroads not route national, and one Sunday we entered a village where the roads were lined with people with flags. They saw us and all started to wave the flags and cheer (honest it was friendly) and as we continued it was apparent that somehow we’d managed to enter a closed off cycle race section.
Another year over in Southern Ireland we were stopped from going into a town and had to go down back lanes because they had a horse and buggy race going on

So if I do track days I'm a professional motorbike rider? LOL
They're just sportsmen taking part in an event.
Totally idiotic riding. No doubt caused by a few having their heads down and not looking where they were going. I'd expect the police to follow up on this.
Yet another example of race organisers bullying other road users, some people only get to ride their horse at the weekend & these organisers don’t give a shit, what gives them the right to close roads to legitimate road users just so they can break the law by racing on public roads?
It wasn't a closed road so the horse rider was 100% innocent in my view. The blame must be 100% with the cyclists. The Triathlon club did put warning signs up but so what. Maybe they should have put some more signs up to warn the cyclists that the road is a public road?
It looks like the organisers have put their hands up on the signage side.
Not sure I agree that the horse should have been on the road......yes, technically they had every right to be there but was it sensible??

At the end of the day if everyone treated each other with courtesy and respect regardless of mode of transport then there wouldn't be a problem.

Horses have been around considerably longer, as a form of transport, than the bicycle.
We went for a walk into town this morning. Part way in we crossed a humpback style pedestrian footbridge which recently has been designated as dual traffic (with those blue pedestrian/cyclist signs).
Just as we got to the foot of one end over the brow came a gaggle of club cyclists going at speed.
No attempt was made to slow down and they were coming over 2 or 3 abreast in an area just about wide enough for a car.
Words were exchanged but not one of them was in the slightest bit interested in slowing down.
You don't get that level of arrogance from horse riders.
Therefore all cyclists are arrogant?
Trust me I have been very annoyed at the antics of some cyclists, but no more so than car drivers, lorry drivers, bus drivers, you name it. While racking up 600+ miles last week in the car the worst example of a road user was by a million miles a motorcyclist overtaking at mad speeds across solid white lines.
They all have one thing in common - there is a person in control. That is the problem.
We're talking about groups of club cyclists and yes.... I've yet to come across any who are anything else other than arrogant, rude and convinced that the rules of the road don't apply to them.
