What the ? Vegans

I've just been reading a report from a HR publication regarding Veganism in the workplace.

It revolves around a case where a Vegan was dismissed from his job for misconduct. The employee has now claimed that he was dismissed for his philosophical belief i.e. veganism.

While the case is still ongoing, preliminary reports argue that as it's a philosophical belief, it falls under the Equality Act, in the same way as religious belief does & that employers should now take account of this.

This throws up an interesting situation where if a Vegan is vocal about their beliefs in the workplace, that is covered by the Equality Act and the employer cannot take action if a non-vegan employer makes a complaint. However, if a non-vegan was to do the same, they could be dismissed.

The report concluded“While personal conversations are likely to crop up at work, remind your staff about appropriate communication and the need to avoid making colleagues feel picked on or segregated,”

I think I'm off to get a burger.

Nobody thought Spock being a vegan was an issue.

The world has changed.

Philosophically speaking I don't believe in paying taxes, so does this mean that I could invoke the Equality Act and take HMRC to court for harassment ..?

Had a conversation with a woman colleague who is a vegan, I accused her of taking food from the mouths of the animals she is supposed to be saving, she said I’m daft.

The thing I don't understand about vegans and vegetarians is that the ones I have met and know seem to think it is to wear leather :confundio1:

If they wear leather, they’re not vegans. Fact.

By writing ‘fact’, I’m not being a nob (for a change). A proper vegan does not wear or use leather and that includes belts, wallets, car seats, etc. as well as shoes. Wankers, all of them.

Simple solution to this is for carnivores to claim that we eat meat on the basis of philosophical belief. My philosophy is that I need animal protein for tissue repair and to support muscular and skeletal maintenance.

And for these absolute twats who make their kids vegetablists and vegans, they should be prosecuted for child abuse. The human body has not evolved for long enough to be able to support growth from birth without animal derived proteins. And that really is fact.

Some years ago neighbours of friend visited her with their 5 year old daugher.

They were/are veggies.

The child was scarily thin. You could almost see through her. As you say - legal issue.

Hippy family came into the restaurant of a pub/hotel I was staying at several years ago and asked for the vegetarian menu. They had two little daughters, no more than five or six years old. They looked ill. I’m no medical professional but if I was a gambling man, I’d put money on it that they were suffering malnutrition.

If you want to be a vegetablist or vegan, fine, knock yourself out. However, it should be illegal for parents to allow their kids (or kids in their care) to do so under the age of 18.

Even simpler, us carnivores eat the vegans ! ( and all the rest of the snow flake tree hugging brigade too.. That would make a start on the world over population and any famine issues all in one go )
