Having trawled the internet for a decent CBR1100 for the last two or three weeks and having been let down with a purchase my luck changed a little today as i went to view and decided to buy a S reg carb model BB.
31 k miles, vgc and ...........................................RED!:couch:
Now in some ways Andybirdless helped with this as i was after a late model and low mileage bike however, Andy's advice re mileage doesn't matter prompted me to change direction with my needs, so thanks Andy you have help grow the biker population by one, hope your sat down when reading this !
Anyway, the bike appear very clean and has a stack of supporting docs, it is a two owner bike that looks to have been treated respectfully over the years so hopefully wont be a money pit, that is of course until i start tailoring it to my taste so, a couple of questions i have are, I need a seat so whats on offer or recomended? What would be must do's on the carb models and are the MRA vario screens effective?
The first job i will need to do is remove the full GIVI pannier and top box kit, one because they are way to big for my needs and secondly they are red and look naff, i will post some pics and offer them up on here, i would imagine they can be painted?

All for now and welcome thoughts.

I had a couple of Corbin seats, both were excellent. Can only compare to standard which is like a plank in comparison.

There are cheaper options around, although I picked both the Corbins up second hand.

A lot of classified adds are left to draw attention to the sellers other items, biggest exploiters are estate agents, i had to take the sold sign down myself after many request got no response to remove the sold sign....................4 months after the sale.

Couple over the way from me sent a £800 bill for rent of the land and advertising.. It had been in the garden for months and months
They turned up two day later ... She refused access until the bill was paid, and the £50 a week would keep being added ...
She ended up getting a letter a couple of days later saying keep the sign..She sent a reply ( registered ) saying she did not want it, but if they wanted her to dispose of it there was a £25 charge

I it went to small claims in the end and I reckon the bench was pissed with estate agents as it went in their favour. They was ordered to pay and given 14 days to remove it

So, got time to do some spannering today, first job was removing the luggage, straight forward and no issues, and now on ebay, i did have to buy two new rear indicators but Jaws to the rescue and just round the corner from me (Thanks Karen)
Next up was the Scotoiler removal (Dont like em!) removed the oil res from behind the number plate and the pipework, all easy, then the fun started, the scotoiler take off from the carb was totally obscured by the thermostat, PITA to get at but managed in the end, trouble was i didnt have the original screw to put back in so ended up putting the Scotoiler screw back in and blanking it off temporarily until i can get the right alan screw and washer.
Fitted a Tony Archer seat i dropped on whilst at Jaws and also bought some other goodies, such as chain and sprockets, a new rectifier for spare as the original one still survives and with no issues! New MRA screen and bagster tank cover.
Next job is to remove the Oxford heated grips and digi gear indicator, fecking hate shite on bikes.
Then its ride, ride ride until autumn to figure out what or how else to improve it, its likely the suspension will be targeted then the brakes unless of course i come across a CBR1100 thats something special.
