Ferry chaos

Yes, annoying but the actual e-mail notices were sent out in April for the July sailings so all booked passengers received 3 months notice of the problems.

I booked flights to Cologne for a short pre- Xmas break.

Specifically booked flights that would pretty much give a full day there on both the day of arrival and departure.

Already received notice that the flight times have changed, needless to say arriving a lot later and departing a lot earlier.

Bugger all we can do about it.

Very annoying.

Cancel the tickets as the new times offered cannot be used.. Then rebook elsewhere

Two reasons not to;

- we want to go to Cologne, very, very limited flight options
- changes are within the parameters of t&c when we booked the tickets

Parameters like that are in all flight bookings. Read the small print very carefully; they’re not even obliged to fly you to your destination. If they part fly/sail/ rail/drive you to your destination, then they’ve still fulfilled their side of the contract.

A couple of years ago,I arrived at Cardiff Airport to begin my flights to New Zealand, only to be told that all my tickets that had been booked and paid for four months earlier had been voided.

And the airline didn’t think to tell you this?

I see your point, but on balance there wouldn't be much of our four night trip left if we went by motorhome opposed to 737!

Long, involved story that took me three months to get to the bottom of as none of the three airlines involved would take responsibility. Turned out the travel agent made a minor change which voided all the tickets. They did manage to get me on flights the same day, but from Heathrow, so rather a trek for Les to get me there in time then get back to Wales himself.

My son and his partner booked a holiday online nine months before departure.

The travel firm contacted them the day before they were leaving 'to make sure they knew that the holiday they had booked was for the following year'.

A likely story. Much 'discussion' followed.

All turned out well as they ended up travelling on the same day on a much superior package provided by the same company.

I hope you had words with the travel agent.

I guess that's an advantage of being married to a trolley dolly - we don't need travel agents.
