...or English...?

I see the Beeb have been running a series of news stories about how people in England view themselves and whether they are proud to be English.

Personally, as a Jock, I feel really sorry for you English peeps. You dare not celebrate your national identity because it's been tainted by footie hooligan scum and the far right.

One interesting factoid...Yorkshire (apparently where God lives) is the region of England with the strongest identity. That should cheer up at least one forum member..... ;)

One of my partners in this company is from the Republic of Yorkshire. Or is it the Kingdom of Yorkshire? He's a fan of the Queen, but I've never heard her referred to as the Queen of Great Britain, Norn Iron and Yorkshite so I'm a bit confused on that one.

The Queen has nothing to do with the Democratic republic of Yorkshire, she is just a figurehead for the soft shandy drinking southern sheep.

I never get this 'x is better than y' stuff.

Both Oxford and Cambridge are lovely. I really enjoyed visiting both places.

It like Messi and Ronaldo - always a debate about which is best. They are both incredible footballers, why not just enjoy them while it lasts?

Uni oiks are the same everywhere the last time I went round Cambridge we were inundated by students want us to go on a punt with them. Both cities are very nice, Oxfordshire as a county has some lovely places to visit and I don't mean Bicester Village shopping out let.

It gets worse. Cambridge has a serious infestation of mindless cyclists.. I know Oxford has them but in my experience the Oxford lot are least awake and sometimes even polite !

And I do agree about Oxfordshire in general. It is a beautiful area

We took a punt trip with a student - it was a marvellous experience, he was intelligent, witty and informative. You only really get to appreciate the beauty of the universities when you got round the back of them. Which you need to do on a punt.

I'm sure they know what they are talking about and are very good but there is a limit to how many times you want to be asked
