Clueless in most things
I think in the early days, they used to put their bike keys into a bowl and see who ended up in which tent. Now it's more ralgex. hot cocoa and the motorhome keys

I could use some ralgex... (sore shoulder)
But I don't have a motorhome. And no caravan either, even when I'm Dutch :-0)
Hmm... And what when I show up with a German tractor ?
Already asked my employer for a few days off.

If you like castles and history with a Dover starting point...

https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/scotney-castle Is a little way inland but is in my opinion the most beautiful place I have visited in years. Enchanting.

A bit nearer is

http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/...gclid=CPfq8fqSitECFQg6GwodglEKzA&gclsrc=aw.ds Dripping with history, including much from WW2

Turn West from Dover for Brighton (as above from JAWS), the Pavillion is stunning and Brighton is a very cosmopolitan and lively place.

An hour past Past Brighton is Arundel, one of the nicest places for a 'slice of England', stuffed full of history and a stunning castle. Best place I know for loads of good restaurants and coffe shops. http://www.arundelcastle.org

Then head off to the West Country.

There are websites that will help with bed and board, tons of pubs for bed and breakfast, plus coastal towns are also stuffed with b&bs.

Pop in for a bratwurst and stein of beer if you need refreshing.....I am on the coast in Seaford, between Dover and (20 minutes from) Brighton.

I also have a German car:-0)

Thanx Andy, I'll put Dover Castle on the to-do-list.
Too bad that the other tips are in the wrong direction. The original "England - end of june" tour has changed into "Visit the 2017 Bash".
Probably at thursday (May 25th) I'll arrive in Dover and from there towards the north.
What is the easiest way to reach East of England ? Dartford crossing ?

The bikerguide is in my Favorites folder now @tu*

Yes, straight up the A2 then M2 takes you right to the Dartford Crossing, which is freebfor bikes@tu*.

Then M25, M11 takes you almost to Norfolk. Be ready for a boring ride:cry:

The dartford crossing is via tunnel on the way out, by bridge on the return journey. Hope you have a head for heights....

Just a thought - Leeds Castle is pretty much on the route from Dover. It is advertised a 'the Loveliest castle in the world' and it may well be. Other than the fact it was built as a home rather than a castle. Still well worth a visit though.

Scotney Castle as per my first post is definitely now on your route, recommended@tu*

Oh well, then I'll put it also on the to-visit-list.
If I get up real early at thursday and speed through Belgium I already might be in Dover in the morning....
Thanks for offering bratwurst & beer !
Are you planning to go to the Bash ?

I've been on the M25 before, in both directions. Between 15 and 20 times I was with a truck in Britain.
Instead of paying attention to other traffic I was always enjoying the view left and right of the Dartford bridge :-0)

Are you all still driving on the wrong side of the road ? 8rfl@

Sadly not attending the Bash.

Trust me, going over the bridge in a truck is totally different to doing it on a bike, especially if the wind is blowing:eek:
