Funny how no one has mentioned the female drivers mind set, so I'll have a stab at it, "that vans not pulling out in front of me, he should have waited behind the line at the petrol station, fuck you m8, you can wait till I'm past before you go" " OH SHIT"!! seen it so often you can see the way some peoples minds work!!:dunno:

Somewhat hilariously i was in the passenger seat the other day while the good lady was driving - she stopped as a car was parked on our side of the road and something was coming the other way - the old dear who was behind in her Micra simply decided to 'overtake' us forcing the driver coming the other way to jump on the brakes. Needless to say she did the whole manouvre without a care in the world, not a flicker of brake light or any sign of decelerating.

Also had another elderly lady come head on at me, completely ignoring the priority signs at a narrow piece of road near us. She had to stop or ram me, she then waved for me to back up and get out of her way. If it wasn't so hilarious I would have been annoyed. I did the gentlemanly thing and backed up as I doubt she was capable of reversing, as she passed she wound her window down and said i needed to learn some manners, to which i responded by saying that if that was how she drove then she should hand her licence in. I would like to think it may have made her think but somehow i doubt it.

Living in retirement country it is a bit of a worry how many of the elderly residents are still driving when they just aren't capable. I am so pleased both my mum and dad decided to give up voluntarily.

sorry guys and girls its been a bit mad round here

Update so

after filling the complaint with the police complaints they have now said
they will investigate the matter......

and iv been ask for an informal interview to be given

me being me i said why bother you said iv done wrong thats why you sent me the letter.

plod tells me he has 2 witnesses to say i just pulled out into the on coming
traffic thats why he sent the letter for the course

with out even looking at the video..............

so after taking more advice iv been asked not to disclose the video till full disclosure if it ends up in court

this all happened over 2 months ago

they do say the best time for an interview is as as possible why its still current in the mind

iv since done 8000 plus more miles and the vans been repaid and back with me for over a month

Well he has now found a statement off of the other driver.....
his has had a witness statement from me.....
and some guy down the road thinks he see what happened.

and he tells me im still guilty and his first letter still stands

i was driving with out due car and attention...................

its a funny old system we have here

"If you are prosecuted for driving without due care and attention the prosecution has to prove that your driving fell below the expected driving level of a competent driver, and this has to be proved beyond reasonable doubt"

looks like i need a solicitor and a day in court.......

Is there a presumption or even a requirement that a 'professional driver' is expected to display higher standards than 'social, domestic and pleasure' drivers? I recall hearing this a good few years ago when plod stopped a bus diver that had carved me up something rotten on my push bike.

Do so is this any influence here?:dunno:

And that will go absolutely nowhere, trust me on this police complaints is nothing more than a paper exercise designed to protect the plod & fob you off

As far as I'm concerned the fact that "we" have taken further "tests" to get Bike/HGV or PSV licences and that should make us "better" drivers in the eyes of anyone that can see or has an "apeth" of common sense, however it seems that at least two of the above categories is a great excuse to bump up insurance premiums, :dunno: so how the nice Policeman can say that you were driving at a lower level than expected is quite simply a laugh!! has he been trained in spotting someone that falls short of these standards, ?? and if he is qualified to make a distinction how come half of the road users today are not "on a course" because I witness some really bad driving on a daily basis, even when I'm not doing the driving!! good luck with the outcome, it may be an idea to ask if he has been on some kind of a course to spot bad drivers or something similar that we could all read and check up on!!:dunno:

Well based on experience of taking a bus through a red light (nb all the passengers swore blind it was green however a camera showed it was red) and narrowly having an accident with a car many years ago and being fined ?600 then yes professional drivers are expected to display higher standards

I had the pleasure of meeting a professional driver on a speed awareness course. he proceeded to challenge the tutor on all aspects of the course and inform me of his expertise, when I suggested that if indeed he was that great why was attending the course? he was strangely quiet. twat cost me an extra 30mins of time. Just because you drive more miles and or sat more tests doesn't stop you from being a shit driver.

Any update on this, curious to know which way it went?

He told me he still stands by his first letter and resent the same as the first letter

The 14 day to book the course was up over a month ago and im still waiting
for his next move to submit it to court

Well this dose make me smile as most would say the councils are slow at working BUT in this case it has worked out there faster than Chester police as im still waiting for them to make there next move in taking me to court but hay ho the longer they leave it the harder it will be for them to prove they did there job right in the first place.
