A geat way to see Ireland with pics

I have done a search and couldn't find any posts regarding the Irish Photo Rally, so I thought I'd share it with you all.

If anyone was planning a week in the Emerald Isle, Its a great way to see the whole island and no matter what way you decide to do it, great scenery and roads are guaranteed.

Basically it consists of 24 photo points dotted all around the 32 counties and the idea is to get a snap wih your bike in it of the target point. This could be anything from a memorial stone to an Abbey or Castle. All points are given with GPS coordinates so its childsplay finding them.

I've been doing it for the past few years and its good craic to get out and see different places you otherwise wouldn't even have given a second thought to.

Anyway, here's the website address and map for this year.

Enjoy

Dave

(MODS - Seeing as there is no irish section, I've posted this here. If its in the wrong place, Please relocate it. Thanks @tu*)

Great pictures, I like the concept of that @tu*
Whats the chance of posting a link to a slideshow of all your pics when you complete the tour.

Some great pictures, I found the one of Lt Gen Dermot Earley interesting, as it was very unusual to see a the sports statue instead of a military statue, so quick google seems he was more famous for his career as a Gaelic footballer than as a military man

Yeah no problem. I have them all resized already in a separate folder in photobucket so thats easily done.

Yeah, it seems he was a bit of a legend on the Gaelic football field alright. I suppose with Ireland being a neutral country, there weren't many high profile military missions to warrant a military memorial in a public place? !!

As far as I know, there is a military memorial dedicated to him in the army training school in The Curragh Camp in Co. Kildare where he spent most of his career.

Irish Photo Rally 2013 so far.....

I re organised my photobucket library so nearly all the previous links are broken. Here are the 21 of the 24 of this years ones that I've done. I've still 3 left to do 'up norf' and am hoping to do them at some stage in the coming fortnight. It will consist of a 400 mile round trip, I can't wait

A gang of 7 of us headed off on sat morning and got just shy of 500 miles done over the 2 days and that has my 2013 photo rally done and dusted.

We left Dublin, straight up the M1 to do point #4. Then it was on to Larne via Nutts Corner and up to #3 via the A2 (North Antrim Coast road). We stopped for lunch in Ballycastle then headed for #2.

Once this was snapped it was over mouth of Lough Foyle on the ferry from Magilligan point to Greencastle and on to Buncrana to Tullyarvan Mill hostel for our digs for the night.

After consuming excess amounts of beer, we woke up with sore heads and headed for the Applegreen for curers in the form of breakfast rolls. Once we got our heads together we headed home via Letterkenny, Omagh, Enniskillen, Cavan and the N/M3 back to Dublin.

Here's the pics
