It’s hardly a surprise, this has been dragging on for years and will no doubt continue to do so. The sponsorship arrangements were so obviously inflated and from related entities when the new owners came in it was laughable.
If Uefa hadn’t messed up their investigation (where City were sanctioned by way of a €10m fine** …….how they must have laughed) this would have been sorted some time ago.
The difference as I understand it is that offences cannot be ‘time barred’ under Premier League rules…..that is what messed up UEFA as they took so long to investigate and charge.
** worth mentioning that City were found guilty of FFP breaches, fined €30m and banned from European competition for two seasons, reduced by Court of Sport Arbitration on appeal…but only as City claimed and were found correct that a large number of offences they were punished for were time barred under UEFAs own rules . Guilty but wormed their way out of it On a technicality.

It’s not on the list of specific sanctions that can be applied.
However, the final,sanction in the list is a cover all’ anything we haven’t thought of in the above list.
