You live on a steep hill, you have a drive big enough for three cars so why when the temperature is -5° would you park your car on the road & then wash it?

It isn't just the neighbours, it's a fairly busy through road very close to a School.
Is the drive brick on sand. If so washing a car on it is not good. IMHO most peeps do silly things like that without thought. No malice intended. I wash the wife's car at the bottom of our steep drive so the muck flows onto the street and down the drain.......eventually.

Would you wash your car when the weather is minus five?
The road is like an ice rink.
Depends who my neighbour was.....
Well I admit I did not check the temperature, but it was icy the other day when I gave the front section of the motorhome a wash ( front section gets filthy due to a large tree.. Back section stays nice and clean )
The point is John would you do it on a steep main road causing an icy slide? There are cars parked on both sides of this road so it's not the easiest of roads even in normal conditions.
What an opportunity to get some free skating time.
When we were kids we used to throw water down the road opposite our house to make a slide. Fantastic fun.

I have NO idea what his needs were or what motivated him, but I suspect he ( she ? ) did not do it merely to antagonise, though quite possibly he ( She ) never thought it through... Something we are guilty of on occasion.
I'll,vouch for that. One of my mother in laws neighbour's jet washes his car on his driveway. Unfortunately it means that every other car within twenty yards or so gets sprayed.
He is a nice bloke, just not thinking.
first off, if it was minus five then I would not be inclined to wash my car/bike.
Secondly I would think "water is gonna freeze, maybe this isn't a good idea.
Thirdly, there are plenty of Eastern Europeans doing an excellent job of washing people's cars without charging a fortune.

Well sorry peeps.., none of what you say is actually a reason why the person should not wash their vehicle..
Do not get me wrong, I actually think the person is nuts and even possibly mentally sixpence short of a shilling, but that does not really make them wrong and you right.
Rightly or wrongly he may feel t is wrong to give work to 'Eastern Europeans'
Rightly or wrongly he may dislike anyone washing his car apart from him self.. This I believe quite possible given the conditions he decided to wash the vehicle in..
I do think the guy / woman was inconsiderate or thoughtless.. Which begs the questions..
How did the persons actions impinge on you
Did you speak to the person about their behavior thereby offering the chance to defend their actions

Yep.. as I would, but it would not stop me cleaning the vehicle if it needed cleaning and I wanted it clean

It is a road on the way to our horses so I would only use it a couple of times a day.
Didn't say anything to the guy as we were late going to the horses.
I wonder what people would say if I were to stand in the road with a hosepipe flooding the road in -5° Temps without washing my car/bike.

I would think you would are doing it for a malicious reason and take you to task..
I wouldn't say anything. I'd just stand behind you and hose you down.
Then when you turn round and ask what I was doing, I would reply "washing my bike"

Two points here;
- I don't believe it was -5 as the hosepipe would have been frozen
- at least it was frozen water on the road rather than the frozen horse poo that Derek is responsible for
