Might have mentioned that I acquired this whilst on the look out for gen 2 Aprilia Tuono.Well I have spent a few bob on it....head bearings fork springs fork oil ,seals ,rear shocks and had some nasty stone chips on the fuel tank fixed and even though I wasnt after an XJR1300 I am chuffed to bits.
The photo doesnt really do it justice..In the sheet metal with the resprayed tank and all it looks too handsome for words.22000 miles ,already had scottoiler,4 degree ignition advancer , 36Y inlet rubbers braided brake lines and a Hyperpro steering damper fitted by the previous owner!!
All that I know is..it may look a bit lardy and old school but you can definitely rock and roll on one of these things, turbine smooth, bags of grunt, slick gearbox and easy handling I always get off with a huge grin which is what bikings all about isnt it?It also gets compliments when parked outside my place of business more than any bike that I can remember. Not bad for a 17 year old bike.
Could be a keeper this one...

Nice paint.

The 'blue spot' calipers that Yamaha use really are the nuts in terms of performance and feel - best I have ever used on a bike.

Just out of interest, does it have a five or six speed gearbox?? Couldn't understand why the faired model only had five speeds when it was launched - it was on my 'possible' list before I found out.

You have read my mind.....A close look show that the
wheels could do with a good powder coating...

Or check out hydro dipping. You could have carbon look wheels then, or pretty much any other flavour you like.

I loved naked bikes from the day I thought I was caught by the law seeing how fast my Firestorm would actually go! I sat up so fast I nearly had my head blown off.

Lovely condition but I just CANNOT get excited about a bog standard naked bike nowadays

Until someone puts their stamp on it, it is just rented from, in this case, Yamaha

Betcha @slim63 knows exactly what I am talking about :)

Yes I know exactly what you mean Jaws I have been like that for a lot of years
This is partly why I stopped going to regular bike meets, my mates would be drooling over the latest superbike while I would be ignoring anything stock & wandering off looking for the hacked up superdream or whatever :)

Always likes the look of that bike, but naked, no.

I was telling a woman about my bikes, she knew something of bikes. Question came back "is she dressed " thought that very funny.

Sorry but good clean straight standardish floats my boat....obviously with
upgraded and improved suspension and brakes...I like my speed and handling
too much. Some bikes were made to be mucked about with and are better for it ,but others
look the biz as they left the factory.

The Kwak 6 pots on the Redbird are better in feel and power. The Blue Spots on the Gayzer are very good as well though

Which is precisely why they do nowt for me
It is impossible to go fast on them and handling, with the best will in the world, can be likened to the Titanic unless you are gonna rip it apart, put decent forks on it and beef up the frame around the swing arm mount and the head stock... Then loose about 40 or so kilos of weight

But bottom line is, it is all in the eye of the beholder.. Be a crappy boring world if we all liked the same :)
