Warming Up

Bob Pinder

Registered User
Especially important for now on in until the Spring.

Hopefully you take the time to allow your bike to warm up from cold, especially first thing in the morning.

Have you considered that this a time where you will be warming up as well - sharpening thoses senses, scanning all around you - including behind - and getting yourself up to speed and into the flow for whatever your fellow road users have to offer...

So remember let all parts of your bike warm up gently - tyres, engine, brakes etc etc and YOU.

After all you wouldn't expect to jump out of bed first thing in the morning and run the 100m?

8ree!

Not unless you've overslept and the bus is pulling away from the stop as you come round the corner

Bob's advice is good and should be adhered to.

But because I always got up late and with the amount of time wasted in donning full gay leathers and taking all the locks off of the bike I much prefer this approach. This sharpens your senses, wakes your neighbours and rapidly heats your rear tyre and motor in one easy process, leaving you ready to let it all hang out on the way to the office.

:neenaw:

I usually give me self 5 minutes to relax and think about what I am doing, then follow a relaxation technique given to me by my instructor. I just tense up muscles, hold for 10 seconds then relax. Start at your feet and by the time you've got to your neck your gonna be late for work and will have to wring its neck to make it in time but Hey, at least you'll be relaxed.
