If he has done coursework to address his offending behaviour and reduce his risk, and his general behaviour in prison has been good, then he is likely to be released on or shortly after the recommended length of sentence imposed by the trial judge. That is pretty much the norm with lifers or public interest sentences these days.

How could the sentence be so short in the first place? I would expect more for a single rape.

I guess they think that as he hasn't raped anyone whilst locked up he must be safe

Once a rapist always a rapist. Castration's the only answer....about neck level would do the job.

I have sat in on many parole boards, unfortunately a Prison Officer's sole role is to make sure the prisoner doesn't kick off & attack the parole board.
The board members will listen to feedback from internal & external case workers, their knowledge will be based on a few hours here & there with the prisoner, the best people to give feedback are those who spend most of their working life with them, us the Prison Officers, unfortunately we are not qualified to have an opinion.
