Tesco 'Ripen at home' Fruit

Samster

Why, when I buy fruit from Tesco or any other big supermarket, do I have to take it home and wait for it to ripen?

If I want to ripen my own fruit, I'll move to the fookin' Andaman islands and open up a stall.

This goes doubly for Tesco Metro. I want fruit I can eat now, you twats! Not next week. How am I supposed to get my five a day when all you care about is slimming down further your waste margins?

Why not go the whole hog and turn the sandwich section into a field for crops and cattle? Sooner or later they're bound to turn into beef and salad sandwiches, right?

Don't they store it in Nitrogen or Hydrogen or something to "suspend" the ripening of it, and take it out at the last minute.

Not sure if they do the same with Toms but we had some that were a lovely colour but very hard and totally, and I mean TOTALLY, without any taste whatsoever. HTF do they do that?

I get through at least 5 a year.. providing they are grapes...

Dislike fruit as much as veg ! Simply hate the stuff and have never eaten it .. Dentist said that was proly why at my age I have all my own teeth.. no nasty acids from fruit rotting my pegs away !

By force growning under artificial conditions, mate bought some strawberries yesterday, massive bright red looked really juicy, but when he bit into them he said they were tasteless.
That's why I grow my own.

always taste great if you've actually put some work into the stuff you eat, all this "factory" farmed crap sold by the supermarkets just seems tasteless :puke: mind you some people wouldnt know the difference :wank: ers, hope you will have enough room in your next place to carry on growing your own!!

Sadly that is no longer to be, we had a phone call from the estate agents saying she was taking it off the market with them and going with someone else.
found out today that she did not relist it with anyone but has sold it to a property developer, so I'm looking into the legalities of her actions, don't expect I'll get anywhere but I certainly won't if I don't try.

Most fruit is bought in un - ripened, and cold stores are used to keep the fruit in suspense so to speak, as such grapes say from Israel, could be 5 weeks old when you get them.............Apples as much a 5 months from picking etc

Fresh fruit?? yeah right...
