Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has confessed to having had an affair with one of his secretaries. The MP for Hull East said he regretted the relationship with Tracey Temple, 43, which had ended "some time ago".

"I have discussed this fully with my wife Pauline who is devastated. I would be grateful if [we] can get on with our lives together," a statement said.
Downing Street said it was a "private matter" and that Mr Prescott, 67, had the full backing of Tony Blair. Mr Prescott and Ms Temple started meeting in secret at his Whitehall flat after a two-year relationship began at an office party in 2002, the Daily Mirror reported.

The pair began working together when Ms Temple was appointed as Mr Prescott's assistant private secretary, responsible for organising his diary, said the paper. Ms Temple had reportedly previously worked as a personal diary secretary for former Northern Ireland Secretary Mo Mowlam, who died of cancer last year.

Punchy, I dont think it is a case of desperation...

I reckon its more to do with imagined power......

A lot of men used to think Margaret Thatcher was very sexy... I cant think why, as she wasnt attractive, but she did wield a lot of power, which some men think is very appealing...more so than looks...

As D'n D says... Look how many there have been recently..and it must have been going on unreported for a very long time...So, why now ???

Its the shit stirring influence of the press.. Anything to seel papers & get "news"..

I wont cast dispursions, as it would be hypocritical of me in our situation, but discretion should be their watchword...

Now far be it for me to suggest there's a conspiracy here... but............


On the one hand we have the news just out that over 1,000 foreign crims have simply been released at the due time rather than being deported..........

And on the other hand the Deputy Prime Mininster announces and old affair......


An attempt to try and get one of them fogotton quickly by the media........ maybe....... but then which one...........................................











So thats two ministerial feck ups then!!!! or............. make that three..........


'cause the other news story is of course that that wondeful invention of the nice Mr Brown (the family tax credit system) has yet again got the payments wrong.... this time to the tune of some 4 billion !!!!


Now could it be that's the story they don't want publicised.............

This month the RAF have moved over the a new computer system for the calculation of pay/allowance/expenses etc......


You know whats coming don't you........ yep..... it's not exactly working that well................... so the lucky boys in blue should get their basic pay Ok... but this like extra allowance (you know for being in a war zone etc), expenses and so on.................. well they'll hopefully be paid in May..... maybe!!

John Prescott is expected to face more revelations about his affair with his diary secretary after she gave an interview to the Mail on Sunday.
Tracey Temple has been paid in excess of ?100,000 to talk about the affair.

Her publicist Max Clifford said the Cabinet Office gave no support to Ms Temple when the affair became public, a claim the government denies. Meanwhile, Mr Prescott did not turn up to his monthly surgery with constituents in Hull on Saturday. Speaking to BBC Radio Four's Today programme, Mr Clifford said Ms Temple wanted to set the record straight and would get "an awful lot more" than the reported ?100,000 fee. He said: "She had absolutely nothing to do with the story coming out, so then she went to the Cabinet Office and her colleagues for help and advice on how to handle the media and got nothing, nothing at all. "All they were interested in was looking after John Prescott. Meanwhile, day after day, she is reading stuff in the papers a lot of which is totally untrue."
