Hi guy's just been for a quick blast in my 98 bird, when i change gear the bottom of my foot hits the side stand as if the stand is too close to the footpeg, also when on it's sidestand it seems to lean over more than i expected, any idea's as to if this is right or if the stand is not right, cheers.

Sounds like you may have a bolt loose or missing, should be two holding it on!! worth a look on the old hands and knees!! :dunno:

Oddly enough someone commented today that Tango seems to lean a lot.

was parked next to another bird at the time and looking closely it appears my side stand is swivelling further forwards effectively increasing the lean angle

mind you there was also less distance between his front fender and the nose cone than on Tango (fist with thumb on the silver bird touched the nose cone, on Tango there was a good 4-6 mm air gap)

6mm spacer makes the bike lean over more.

Plus the Avon XM's make it do it as well.

I have both so I bought a second hand stand and welded a chunk on the bottom.

Does it look tidy ?? was thinking along the same lines but welding a piece in the middle... Cringe a bit when they clamp them down on the ferries with the bike already leaning more than normal

Not been painted yet as it was a rush job putting it on.

Was going to France fully loaded and as it already looked like it was lying down when on the stand I didn't want it going over.
One of the jobs for this winter.

Putting a piece in the middle would probably weaken it as I'm sure its cast.

Clueless in most things
I wonder if there are any other Honda side stands that would be a direct replacement that would be slightly longer to allow for correct stance whilst using the 6mm spacer?

Right i have measured my stand from the pivot bolt to the bottom and it is 250mm, i have put a 50mm block of timber underneath the stand to make it lean to where it looks about right, i just wonder if it has the wrong stand on, wondering if someone can measure their stand to compare, cheers.

I took the bird in to work and the guy's said the side stand was bent so they took it off heated it up and straightened it, it is now a lot better (i don't know why i didn't notice the bend in it)
