today I moved the pump for the sink in the ensuite I had foolishly installed it over a bedroom where it was a bit noisy so I though I would move it to over the garage. Quick job,, extend the pipework and the mains lead, two hours at the most.

When I started I wasn't happy with the isolating valves on the pipework to the pump and decided to replace them while I was at it. Drained the system down, replaced the valves, turned the mains back on to fill the tank while I got on with the pipework. I decided to start at the new pump location and work back to the isolating valves.

Today's tip is to make sure the new valves are closed before turning the mains on. Fortunately I noticed water gushing out of the hot water valve quite quickly but there was still a hell of a lot of water sloshing around under the fully boarded floor in the attic. Mad panic ripping the floor up and soaking up as much water as I could. Right over our new ensuite and freshly decorated master bedroom, complete with newly skimmed ceilings....

Think I have got away with it, we'll see in the morning....

Hope this has cheered you all up

Been there:(
Was trying to clear a pipe I thought was sluggish - without draining the system. I closed valve at rad and did a quick disconnect and capped the T piece at the other end.

When I had blown it through I connected it back at the rad but forgot about the end at the T............ I was wondering what the noise was........luckily it didn't seep through the hall ceiling.

A lot of colourful language though.

Happilly this morning it looks like I may well have got away with it.:zpong::campeon2::borra2::aplastao::banana::ARMS1::dancer2:

Amazing how what was probably a small amount of water can spread so far and look so bad.

Also good that the old bottom layer of loft insulation (2 inches?) was really absorbent and soaked a lot of it up. If that hadn't still been there it may have been a lot worse - the more modern stuff hardly soaked any up at all.
