Rogue Traders

No I did not see the programme but I think my eldest grandaughter saw the last series. as she came out of the house one day wearing her grandma's leathers and helmet and leapt on the back of my Triumph Trophy whilst I was sat on it talking to her dad and nearly tipped the bike over. I will NOT be drawn into the colour issue because as we all know who own black ones they are definitely the fastest! :f :f

What is it they teach on CBT course {Always park your bike on FIRM level ground}!! LOL

Maybe someone ought to ring the programme and remind him of said fact :}

Bluebirds

When I was a lad a few years ago Bluebirds were one of my favourite sweeties Chocolate covered toffee yum. I think they were made at Romsley somewhere near Halesowen. Rolfy Dave who lives in Kidderminster may be able to shed some more light on this.

Redbirds are vintage rusting New York subway cars that are now being dumped at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to create an artificial reef.

Silverbirds are a slightly dodgy taxi company operating in Jakarta you need to speak some Indonesian to communicate with the drivers.

Hang on I'll just get me anorak!

Thats correct Trophychap !

Bluebirds are made at the top of the hill not far from Halesowen, I lived close to the place for a number of years.

But just to correct you, wasnt it Donald Campbell who had a Bluebird ?
Look what happened to that!.

Well... here goes...

Bluebird toffees used to be made at Hunnungton, which is about 1.5 miles outside Halesowen on the road to the Clent hills...

Unfortunately, all their production was moved overseas, and the company I used to work for before Sainsburys, Messrs Gibbs-Palmer ltd. Garden centre suppliers moved into half of the premises. The other half was just a warehouse for the imported sweets. When Bluebird finally closed about 3 years ago, Gibbs took over all the factory site, and is still there under the name of Solus.

I dont even think the name Bluebird Toffee exists now (which is a real shame, as I used to frequent their factory shop on the "odd" occasion). and pass the savings onto family and freinds.

On a very more slightly interesting topic, the origional chimney is a listed building, and cannot be removed/modified for any purpose, so you can still see it from the M5 as you pass Frankley services (southbound its on your left, and northbound on the right- I hope...LOL)

Before anyone says it, I know, totally boring, but a tale of british industry going down the drain..

Still, they did make lovely toffees..

See yawl soon,

RolfyD

ps... Murt, I am still not taking my Bluebird across lake Coniston at 400mph for anything less than a 22000litre tanker of Caffreys........LOL
