Riding confidence

After adjusting the chain and correcting the wheel alignment:wank: I took the bird out. I wanted to be confident of its ability to handle and no longer run wide.
I am now confident that it's almost as easy to ride, at all speeds, as the blade.
More generally though, because of gypsy's jibes, I've begun practicing riding round islands, of various sizes. Because of a damaged right arm I find these difficut. But practicing difficult things until you can do them easilly builds confidence.
Both smix and two stroke tart have lost confidence in their ability to ride a bike. If they still want to ride all they need to do, I think, is to practice the things they find difficult to do.
Confidence ameliorates nervousness. :-0)

Practice causes you to make the same mistakes with increasing confidence

Not if you practice in the right way! You slow things down or make them easier until you can do it right. Then you increase the difficulty, gradually, and still do it right! I've been practicing with the blade, and what I practiced on the blade I did today on the bird; because I had confidence that I could.

I always return quickly, and I can get a motorcycle round a mini-rounderbout 2 up with luggage, but I have heard that Blades aren't as agile.
I'm glad to hear that you don't suffer from arthritis or have a damaged right wrist like me. I'm surprised you need to boast about it though.

Well funny you should say that but I have, as many on here know, but if it ever was to effect my ability to propell a motorcycle on the queens highway in a safe manner, I would be forced to surrender my keys. Bearing in mind I was the the poor unfortunate rider you nearly took out on said roundabout, i think it would be best and safest for all concerned if you were to surrender keys.

HANG ON A COTTON PICKING MINUTE

Where the hell did I say I've lost confidence?????? WTF?? What the hell gives you the right to assume that?????? Jeez - as if enough people who've not seen me ride don't already make assumptions/criticise me.

FFS - please do not go making assumptions, let alone posting them

Yeah - on occasion stuff has happened that makes the adrenalin flow, but I don't believe anyone who says they've never had a 'moment'. And it hasn't stunted my confidence. I also still have a healthy respect for other road users and tarmac

Anyway - bike will be back with me on Saturday, and two weeks on Sunday I'll be hurtling round Cadwell Park on it. Maybe I really have lost confidence, I mean, Cadwell Park is a good starting point huh???
