Rectifier Identification

Hi Guys,
Can someone take a look and let me know if this is the standard Honda Rectifier on my 1998 Carb Blackbird. It has 38000 miles on the clock but I have no idea if it has been changed. Link: http//homepages.lboro.ac.uk/~ssmwjw/Photos/Rectifier.htm
Thanks

That look's like the original reg/rec to me, jaws replacements have coolling fins!

Rectifier

Thanks guys,
Looks like it is a Honda item. No problems with it but may just get the Jaws one anyway.

Yep, that's a standard Honda regulator. They use the same part number in the VTR1000 firestorm, and the one I had melted the potting compound. I grafted in a spare finned rectifier I had from a CB250N (to keep the Honda favoured parts). Worked perfectly. Just had an extra 6th wire that I needed to connect somewhere (ground or +12 can't remember which) to get the correct output.

Paul.

The rectifier on the carbies seem to be flat and the later examples were finned

Did Honda update the replacement rec's to the standard of the Jaws ones or did the Honda ones stay less reliable than the jaws ones?

I only ask as the rect for a 97 carbie oem now has fins and is at ?69

They are being a bit clever there
They are not saying it is an OEM part .. they are saying it is an OEM replacement part

With that orange label on it I suspect chink to be honest

You are asking the wrong person mate..
I retired 18 months ago and apart from a bit of technical input I am not connected to Jaws MC any more..
I have no idea what spec the reg recs are nowadays mate.. sorry
