i heard tonight at a meeting about some recalls honda have done on some models regarding front forks. i'd heard about this in relation to the certain models of fireblade, but it was suggested this evening that it also applied to the sp1, sp2, and blackbird as well  . could anyone confirm/deny this? cheers.

Only one recall and that concerns Pans and some birds..
The front brake pipe connector block needs to be checked on 03 ( from memory but it was only ONE year ) bikes..

Out of all the bikes that have so far been checked not a single problem has been found.. ( at least not among members on here and other forums :p )

Someone with a Pan did have to have the con block changed as it was found to have weeped a little but thats about the only one I have ever heard of

The fork recall is (I believe) only applicable to the RR2 and RR3 Fireblades. The recall is due to corrosion between the lower casting and fork tube, causing cracking of the casting

The most decent thing Honda could do, is recall the crappt EFi models and retrofit them with carbs to bring the power back up. Thankfully they are doing this mod to the last batch to be run later this year

If you see two people talking and one looks bored, Fat Bert is the other one.

Please do not read my posts if easily offended.

Luckily, I'm not offended (even if you do talk through yer arse)

There is a recal on the Blades, RR2 RR3, for a front fork tube replacement.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive from Honda.

I asked this question after reading it on another site:-

Am I correct in understanding there is a Recall Notification for Front Fork Pipe - CBR900RR (00, 01, 02, 03 YM)

This information has been passed onto me by a third party - stating:

'A small number of cases have been reported relating to a fracture discovered in the left or right hand front fork pipe lower casing. Fracture occurs as a result of stress corrosion cracking. Possibility of this happening is extremely low, etc...

The rectification work should take approx 2.5 hours - free of charge.

Reference: AS05008 RM/2005025'

I have recently purchased a Honda Fireblade 954, 2002 model - reg number WV02JWU

Does this bike need to undergo this modification?

The reply was:
Dear Mr Smith

Thank you for your recent email.

I can confirm that we have received your email and the details have been updated accordingly. A letter has been requested and will be with you shortly.

Thank you and best regards.

So yes, there is a recall and mine will be done soon.

Factual stuff is not intended to offend knobcheese:k

Would the "factual stuff" to which you refer, be the 5bhp increase in power of the Fi 'bird compared to the earlier carbed version ? Or would it be the fact that you're still talking through yer arse ?

Further from my original post regarding bird recalls, this was posted by a mate who is in met traffic...

For those of you who run Honda Clitoris's, the Blackbird is known to suffer
from a rear brake master cylinder defect. It becomes apparant when using the
rear brake a "click" can be felt, if left and not replaced the master
cylinder will fail causing all sorts of problems. If you already know about
it I am sorry for wasting you time.

Most owners should have been notified by now, if you haven't, get in touch
with your local dealer and get it sorted as the part costs a fortune and
takes ages to arrive.

does anyone else know of this problem... presumably honda uk will be able to verify whether my bike has been done?

If it's the recall Jaws is referring to then it's on 2002 models - I got a letter the day before I went across Europe on it - cheers then! I have yet to action but plan to get looked at in the impending 16K service. Hope it's not the prob Rods mentions.
