Kenny OMG I have a MASSIVE Dale Farm eviction update for you!! 1) Google it for today's general update <I tend to read the Daily Mail's view because I like their exaggerated danger-filled approach>,but 2) some of them have moved to the site where Luke works! He is within touching distance of them right now!! AAAAAARGH! :k

and made 20 million pounds worth of improvements ????:-0)

Thanks Russ and Janice for putting up with another non-Blackbird yet again ?

John and I got back late this afternoon, 1500+ miles taking in the McBash along with doing the West coast and Skye.

Kenny I wish you would have told me not to do the Applecross Pass in anything but perfect weather.
We didn't, we had 70ft visability, rivers running across every piece of tarmac, driven rain with the storm force gails. I've never been so scared on a bike. I met a van coming down just after a bend with no passing place, slipped it into 2nd and found myself going backwards with the howling wind .

Brilliant week yet again, if you didn't go, you missed a cracker @tu*

How happy does John look in this photo ? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v47/marcusfordus/McBash plus/P1000696.jpg

COOKERY CORNER for those handy with a spatula or spanner

Caramel Apple Betty with an easy cooked caramel topping, poured over the hot cake.
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 medium tart apples, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
  • Caramel Topping, heated
Preparation:

In a mixing bowl with electric mixer, beat together sugar, oil, cinnamon, and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the milk, flour, baking powder, and salt, stirring just until blended. Stir in apples.
Pour apple cake batter into a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350? until cake springs back when touched lightly in the center, about 30 to 40 minutes. With a fork, pierce cake all over. Pour hot caramel topping over cake. Serve warm or at room temperature with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream or whipped topping.

Caramel Topping
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine brown sugar, butter, and cream in a heavy saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer; continue cooking and stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour caramel topping over hot apple cake.

Spicy Squirrels

~ 2- 3 squirrels
~ bbq sauce
~ ketchup
~ water
~ minced onion
~ pepper
~ your favorite spices
In a bowl mix some bbq sauce and ketchup together to taste. Slightly water it down. Adjust taste if needed.

Rub the sauce into the squirrels.

Place on hot grill.

Sprinkle with the onion, pepper and spices.

Cook on low for 1 - 1 1/2 hours basting occasionally with the sauce.

Serve and enjoy.
