Morning Andrew.

Welllllll, as I said above I was only planning on being here for three months and then the time kinda whizzed by so I never got around to it. I'll get far more than a grand for them, too :ciappa:

Oh, and I went for the same make of car as you but avoided the gay blue colour you have. Estoril Blue just screams 'ass pirate'.

BTW, did that Sera burd agree to marry you?
Estoril Blue says M Sport', I.e. not insecure enough to need an 'M' but sensible enough to have loads of good bits from an M in a dignified package.

Sara disappeared off the face of the earth. Maybe I could overwhelmed her. Shame, she bought good content into the forum.

Now I’ve adopted a slightly different tack. I’ve gone M Sport too; like you I’m secure enough that I can live without an M (and the horrendous fuel bills) but I’ve gone diesel, practical and sensible. And in a rowdy orange colour.

Shame about Sara, I was looking forward to your stag do.

The orange sounds interesting.

Please tell me you didn't buy a 1 or 2 Series.

But FFS YOU BOUGHT A DIESElL.

Clearly the news (although it wasn't news to anyone with a brain) didn't reach Singapore. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...l-car-giants-break-toxic-emissions-limit.html

Orange Sunset metallic to be precise.

No, I didn’t but Mrs P ordered a 2 series though and it’s a fantastic little car :asz: I’ve ordered something a little bigger. There’s enough room for us to have dirty bum sex in the back but no baby oil this time!

As for the diesel business, yes, I heard about it but you do realise the article you posted is three years old? Get with the program, Andrew! Besides, mine is a EU cat 6 and cleaner than most petrols, so there won’t be any issues in the four or five years I plan on keeping it. The road tax is the same as the equivalent petrol and hugely better economy, so for me it was a no brainer. Don’t care about servicing because it’s £400 for four years, so not an issue. It was cheaper to buy than the petrol equivalent too, because I had a decent deposit contribution from BM as well as a significant discount. Buying two cars helped though.

A) no words can ever excuse buying a diesel
B) try and ignore the appalling way the 2 Series crashes about on uneven surfaces
C) I too, was"surprised at the good value offered by the five year service deal. Make sure you book your service well in advance if you want a courtesy car
D) did you look at wheel and tyre insurance? Although it seems to have gone up a lot since I got mine judging by what my son just paid I found it a good investment - run flats cannot be repaired and at £220 a pop........plus those kerbs jumping out and damaging the alloys...... happily mine remain pristine a year on from being refinished!!

A) I think 313bhp, 456lb/ft torque, 0-60 in 4.7s and 51.3 MPG can excuse buying a diesel.
B) I don't drive it but on the few occasions I've been in it, it wafts along. Very comfortable, economical, solid and planted. And it has the stiffer set-up being an M Sport with the M Sport Plus package. Some shitty roads near us and it doesn't crash around. Maybe you can't drive properly.
C) Will do.
D) I did and they're a must. I'm going for the scratch & dent and GAP too. They can be bought cheaper from a specialist such as ALA. I've always bought GAP from them previously but if BM are not much more, then I'll keep it in-house. I think my front tyres are about £220 but rears are closer to £300.

Soooooooooooooo....
You are gonna have to poor piss in to the thing then ! (AdBlue is mainly urine  )
I won't use supermarket fuel, so no. I'll use that Shell V-Power stuff. My Merc seemed to like it and I always managed to significantly exceed the official fuel consumption figures with it. On a 400 mile round trip home to South Wales, mostly motorway but a bit of pissing about in Cardiff picking my mum up and stuff, 64.7MPG at an average speed just over 60 MPH. Not bad for a 2.2 diesel, 7 speed auto.

I think the logic in the service deal is that they can stand over the next sale and know themselves how the car is.

I can see it influencing a buyer - "we know have taken care of and have loved this car all its life"

It also saves the driver a shed load of money, Alec. It's a no brainer if you gave the £500 to hand at the time. Service prices and spares only go up, they don't get any cheaper.

Son bought a 911 4s 2007 a few months ago. He took out big service plan.
Engine currently on the floor due to barrel scored.
Apparently one cylinder doesn't get enough cooling..............
Seems other versions have different problems.
Can anybody design a car without a flaw 100 years later????

Air cooled model?

Flawed from conception.

Should have bought a diesel

Turning back to the bmw service plan, I have personally found it spot on. Only annoyance I have had is bmw identifying a very minor issue (exterior badge beginning to corrode) that was to be fixed under warranty at the last annual service - a good thing, I hadn't noticed it - couldn't do it on the day so I had to take it back. I was a bit miffed that when I went back I had to pay for fuel for the courtesy car (albeit only £4) and £10 to,reduce the insurance excess from £2500 to £250.

If you haven't done it book an appointment with a "BMW Genius - well worth it, bought out loads of features that I didn't know existed when I did mine. http://www.registerbmw.co.uk/chandlershailshambmw-genius/

Also if you haven't done it load BMW Connected onto your phone - doesn't do,as much as t could, but some handy features like being able to switch the ventilation on remotely and help you find the car if you forget where it is parked......... wish I had the latter on my Hillman Avenger when I went to Fulham V Chelsea any years ago.....

It doesn't.

Try and concentrate on those numbers when it clatters like a dustbin lorry on start up:asz:

It's a few months early for this sort of response but what the hell: ohhhhhh, yes it does!

Ohhhhhhh, no it won't! :p

I test drove a 3.0 litre diesel, albeit the lower power version, before ordering mine and there was just a gentle rumble on start up. We're not talking Ford here, Andrew! :nono:
