Pass Light

There was a thread a while ago about someone's pass light not working and the bike being a former Police bike. Well, mine is also a former police bike and the pass light didn't work, because the switch had been used to activate the sirens.

However, yesterday I decided to attack the switch gear and find out if it could be reinstated. The short answer is YES! If you strip the switch gear down the two wires (feed & live) are just cut back and then taped off. I removed all the old solder and then soldered on two short lengths of wire to replace what had been removed. It took about an hour, was a little fiddly but worth it in the end. Now the bike is back to how it should have been, except for the fat lump in the middle - oh that's me sorry!

I hope this helps anybody else with the same problem.

I've also got an ex-police bike

Not sure what the passing light is meant to be for anyway, and no idea if mine works.
But interesting to know that it would have been wired to the siren once on some.
I think mine puts extra lights on...main beam?

The pass light is there as a headlight flash. It is supposed to be used as a visual warning to inform other road users of your presence when they are looking in your direction. (Alternatively you would use the horn) However, it tends to be mis-used in this country as most beleive that you flash them so they can pull across your path.
