Right you lot, I know its a looong way off yet, but !

As you can see this is a Poll to decide which weekend you want for next years McBASH.

Previous McBASH's had steered clear of the Bank Holiday but the OBASH was over that weekend and it seemed to be very well attended.

So the choice is yours, either the Bank Holiday Weekend (26-29th Aug) or the following weekend (2-5th Sept).

Just want to make sure those who want to come, can do.

I'm off to check out hotel and Activity Centre this coming weekend so will see what they are like.

I've not made a McBash yet so my vote counts for nothing but since I'll be trying to attend this one here goes :

I'd prefer the later one :
  • It's the last weekend of the school hols and therefore is unlikely to clash with any family holiday
  • After the Obash riding back from Northern Ireland via Scotland back to Essex on a BH Monday was a chore. The traffic was horrid and given the distance going a scenic way really isn't an option.

Just my 2p's worth @tu*

Is this going to be at Oban Caravan Park?

If so they are really bike friendly, we do our annual scottish bikers run there and they usually give us a huge area isolated off from main campsite next to the water with a huge BBQ fire, just need to ask. Also for those who cant be arsed with tents, they have loads of options open from camping pods to lodges.

Love Oban lots of ww2 relics in the area.

If we short of numbers I can invite the scottish bikers as well, small but solid group of nice guys.

Come on you Hatters
Either for me n Jules as it'd be more likely we'd be stopping up there for that whole week with our friends in Lochgilphead.

Saffie, we will be based in one of the small hotels on the harbour road, if anyone prefers camping then thats fine but I'll be in the hotel and they have lots of rooms and are biker friendly lot as they have had groups before, although not us !!

Never been on a McBASH so would be good to give it a go.

Might be tricky still for the first weekend as daughter's wedding is on 3rd Sept so may be busy with last minute arrangements, but you never know SWMBO may show pity.

Either for us Russ. We're not bringing the caravan all that way, so its hotel for us too. If you can get us a first floor room if possible, as I don't do stairs very well nowadays.

Cheers,

Might be possible next year, but for us it would need to be the later weekend because the Ogri Rally is over the Nak Holiday one

looks like Blacky is gonna get a good run tomorrow with the run over to Oban to check out the base, weather forecast is good for a change, if it isn't I'll be upset !!

Change of plan folks. Just called into the Lancaster Hotel in Oban and seems the bank holiday weekend is too busy already so McBash will be first weekend in September after all.
Hotel is very nice with plenty of rooms so we will need to book them by end of June to make sure you get what you want. Plenty of time yet but just keep it in mind.

good looking AND modest
Well that certainly fucks us up, Holiday days are in very short supply, so may end up having to give this a miss, unless both Yvo and I can chuck a sicky :bang::bang: we shall however be making a point of rescheduling other commitments if possible!! :bang::bang:

Probably a week too late for me :(

Right, after a weekend over around Oban and after speaking to the hotel, I'm afraid we will be reverting back to the usual McBASH weekend which has always been the first weekend in September.

Our problem is we can't definitely book specific rooms because we don't know who's coming (other than the odd 1 or 2) and as I've asked for possibly 15 rooms, they can't put that many aside on a Bank Holiday weekend, if we only ended up with 10 then 5 rooms will be unoccupied so they can;t take the risk. Its ok for the 1st weekend in September so I'm afraid we will have to go for that one.

We only tried to have the McBASH (not the OBASH) 1 bank holiday weekend before and many couldn't manage because they were taking time with their families so we changed it back to the following weekend which is what we will have to do next year so apologies for anyone can't manage.

Having looked around the Hotel is really is a big improvement on the Vale and everyone can get in the same place (Vale only has 5 rooms) and the owner seems really keen for use to get in there, they are used to bikes.

While we were there, we had a good run around the roads and I've decided we are going back to basics so there will be no 'Activity' on the Sunday, those roads are far too good and so the plan now is for a short run on the Saturday and anyone wanting to spend time in Oban (5 mins walk from Hotel) can do in the morning, followed by a run in the afternoon, then the Sunday will be a fantastic run on these stunning roads. Been a while since we've been over there and didn't realise how damn good they were !

So I've taken down the Poll and copied this to a separate thread which I will update as time goes on.
