Hope that orange light wasn't his side stand.

Imagine how much quicker he could have gone if he'd lifted it up!

Impressive.

I Wouldn’t have the balls to go round the Nurburgring on a motorised bicycle while there are cars on the track.

His performance reminds me of my own experience of riding an R6 at Brands…thought I was doing ok until my ‘coach’ Steve Plater got bored following me and overtook me on the outside at Druids while giving me the ‘Barry Sheene wave’ as he roared off into the distance. I reckon he could do two laps to my one, if not more.

Yes I've been there. Lapping Donington on an R6 and really biting the screen when Jamie Whitham went past me down Craner with a fag on. Bastard.

Did a free day at Snetters when they were testing F3 and formula Ford cars
I was on a Bird, and was doing pretty well.. till the cars came out and I might as well have been on a 125 with engine problems !!

They charge you quite a lot of money to spend half a day shitting yourself and realising that you are a crap rider. Good business. To be fair though the big thing I took away from it was exactly how hard you can brake on a modern motorcycle with decent warm tyres and good technique without coming to grief. Worth the money just for that. I've put it to good use on a few occasions over the years.

'82 or '83 my mate and I were racing at the John Player superbike races at Donnington, he made the decision to give up racing that weekend as he was giving it his all and Ron Haslam came past him on the rear wheel, handlebars to one side, posing for publicity photos.

Bunch of nutters the lot of them. Whitham explained to me afterwards that he wasn't allowed to smoke in the pits but nobody had told him he couldn't crack his visor while out on circuit! Never get away with it now. Bring back the eighties.

A track day is something that has never interested me.....
I only did the Brands one as I won a day at the Yamaha Race School via an Autotrader competition. It was a great experience having Steve Plater as a one to one coach despite my total lack of ability and required testosterone. It was quite amusing watching a couple of the oooh look at me power Ranger leather warriors binning their R6s on the first lap and having to sit out the rest of the day.

Did loads of track days in cars there, they were great fun.
