Sat in front of the telly this afternoon with a couple of mates who for some reason love formula one. I spent ages trying to convince them of how much more exciting motogp is with multiple battles throughout the race , then watched Rossi come off on the first bend, and the rest of the race become no more than a procession. Glad to see Caparossi win, but took some stick about the boredom factor of motogp - lets hope for better racing this season or I think Rossi will definately be driving for Ferrari this time next year.

Yes, the duc went into fuck off mode but the field behind were at it hammer and tongs !

A race is more than what goes on at the front :p !

Damn good days racing through my TV too..

Rossi IS a true star, to be punted off, stand there in dis-belief THEN decide to pick up the bike AND finish 14th, sterling effort.

My heros of the day were 'Pedrosa' & 'Nakano'

True. Maybe was just spoiled last year with podium place drama right from the first race of the season. :dunno:

Maybe I had just overtalked the racing before the lights went out. Will still watch every minute of the season. fl4g71

I loved every minute of it too - what about Casey Stoner! First race on a MotoGp bike with fook all practice or test time and he's unfit and goes and brings it home 6th! Pedrosa was stunning - but would have loved to have seen Sete and 'sideways' Loris battle out front to the finish.

Just because it was unpredictable doesn't make it boring. Suggest you watch the 125s and 250s too, there's more to a GP meet than just the premier class!

Admin: pls move to relevant forum?

Launch Control.

Did anyone watch the pratice on Saturday and see Rossi try out his new launch control?

Saw him do it 3 times, Stick it in gear, give it full throttle and then dump the clutch !!!. He held the throttle at full stop all the time.

It just took off, no wheelies etc.

The commentator said 'imagine being the first guy to have to test that'?

Brill.

Does anyone know about this traction control? Can the teams/riders turn it down/off? Looked to me like Capirossi could have done without it as it seemed to snap his bike back from his trademark drifting rear wheel?? :dunno:

I didnt say it was traction control, but LAUNCH control. He used it from the start line...
If you taped the race, you can see his throttle hand snap open waiting for the lights.

Launch Control, Traction Control - take it all away........... with all this computer controlled jiggery pockery going on effectively any one of us could get a 250bhp MotoGP bike off the line and down to turn one - pin it to the stop, weight over the front and dump the clutch..... piece of piss. Ban it IMHO. bl4hbl4h

Couldn't agree with you more Samster! Don't think they will though, after all the money the teams have spent developing the systems

I enjoyed it too - the first corner incident, Gibernau retires, Pedrosa and Hayden go at it, Pedrosa chases down Capirossi who then power slides to the end. All this mixed up with shots of Rossi managing to ride a bike without a right foot peg, a broken front brake lever and no back brake lever at all. Did I miss anything?

You missed out the aussie commentator (Charlie Cox?) and Steve Parrish continually getting Melandri and Elias mixed up........numpties, and talking over the top of one another.........

Talking about the traction control they now have the telemetry to dial it in individually for every corner of every track .. in other words its remapped for each corner.

so as a rider all you will have to do is hold the throttle open and steer it..
(thats all lol )

Randy Mamola said that traction control can give you an average of 5 secs per lap quicker !! so as a racer your gonna take that every time ...

bit like an athlete taking drugs in my opinion ... takes away the natural abillity and removes human error which is what 'sport' is supposed to be about..
It is definatley going the way of F1 and it wants stopping now before its too late, Im all for development but not robot riders..

I would sooner watch them racing 5 secs slower and races being won on the abillity of the rider and team not how good a computer programmer you are ..
still enjoyed the race tho as Im an avid fan of all the bike racing but I dont want to see it go like F1..

BTW they all have the launch control now, thats why they ALL made the first corner at the same time.. 19 riders all after the same piece of tarmac at the same time(what would it be like if they had a full grid of 35 ) is a recipe for dissaster ie..down goes Rossi.. normally there is at least half of them that gets the start a little wrong ..bogs it down etc etc.. just watch how many first corner incidents we get this season ... if Rossi had fluffed the start a little he probably would have won the race :bang::p
