The SAG Team finishes the 2nd day of the Jerez tests satisfied with the job done
The second day of tests held in Jerez de la Frontera was in good conditions and the Moto2 teams and 125cc have used it to recover the time lost after yesterday?s washout.

The Colombian rider Santiago Hern?ndez did 94 laps and finished the day happy with his performance. The 18 year old rider is sure that he still can still improve his lap times; his best time today was (1?45.689). He almost crashed on that lap so he is looking to improve the machine for tomorrow. Anyway the SAG Team is happy with their young rider?s performance but still hope there is more to come on the final day tomorrow, which is the last test before the first race of the year at Qatar.

21. SANTIAGO HERN?NDEZ (SAG TEAM), 1?45.689:
?I have finished today?s practices really tired; I have done 94 laps to the Jerez circuit so we can say that we did a good job. I felt not at 100% physically because I felt cramps on my legs but it?s nothing we can not improve with more training. I am happy because we reached today?s goal arriving to ride in 1?45, result that I have never did before here, and even I think that I can improve quite the lap time because in my fastest lap I was close to crash. The idea for tomorrow is to keep working like we did until now and study every moment that I do on the track to keep riding in 1?45 and improve it step by step.?

A minor crash disrupts Marc M?rquez plans in Jerez
A fall of the Repsol rider by mid day forced him to finish the test before the scheduled time due to the damages in his bike.

Marc M?rquez's 2011 preseason tests are nearly over with these there last days at the Jerez Circuit. If yesterday it was the weather what prevented the Repsol rider from continuing with his positive adaptation to the Moto2 class; today it was a crash after doing 20 laps what did not allow him to keep running. The damages of his bike forced him to stay in the garage for the rest of the session.

The young rider took the track at about 11:30 and he was cautious because the asphalt had not dried completely after yesterday?s rain. Despite the clouds, the high wind dried the last puddles, although the temperature remained at 17?C and the track was about 20?C. Under these conditions, the Repsol rider completed about twenty laps ? with a fastest time of 1 minute, 44 seconds and three tenths ?, when a crash prevented him from running again.

M?rquez touched with another rider when braking before the last lap of the Andalusian track and the damages on his bike forced him to remain out of the track. Emilio Alzamora?s pupil did not get hurt, but he will have to wait until tomorrow to keep testing his Moto2 and finish this intense preseason. After these tests, the Repsol rider will arrive at Qatar in two weeks, ready to start a World Championship in a completely different class.

Marc M?rquez 1?44.348 s, 20 laps, 89 km.
?I am fine. I fell in the area just before the entrance to the last corner of the track when I touched with another rider. The bike suffered some damages, but luckily it was just a scare. We had done 20 laps and I was feeling comfortable with the bike, despite the high wind. We had not test anything special up to that moment and everything was working well. I hope we are able to progress a little more tomorrow?.

Wilairot improves his time 2 tenths and leaves Jerez looking forward to Qatar

The Thai Honda Singha-SAG team concluded the Irta tests at Jerez de la Frontera, Wilairot is still carrying injuries he suffered from his terrible accident in Thailand.

Feem began the day with a lot of energy but he had a lack of concentration again at the last hour of the day. The test focused on getting Feem comfortable with the bike and finding a base setting for the upcoming Moto2 race in Qatar. Although the main target of today was not to look for a great result Wilairot is going back home with a best lap of 1?45.204, 2 tenths faster than his best lap of last year, and considering that the Thai rider has 4 times less kilometers than the other riders of the grid of Moto2, the conclusion of the tests is a positive one.

SIMON BLEASDALE (THAI HONDA SINGHA-SAG), chief mechanic:
Out of the three days we lost most of one with bad weather, the other days we could not run all day due to the after effects of Feems accident in December. He has some concentration problems and physically is not at his best level and it will take time to recover to his normal condition. We hadn?t pushed him hard to make the lap time; we just wanted him to understand the bike and try to find some basic settings which we can go to Qatar with and be competitive. The bike is new to Feem and he hasn?t found the limits of the bike yet, also because he couldn?t do a lot of laps this work has been complicated. Towards at the end of the day we made some good steps, he is happy with the turning now and we think that in Qatar we can reach a better level for sure.?

33. RATTHAPARK WILAIROT (THAI HONDA SINGHA-SAG), 1?45.204:
?My feelings along the weekend have been improving progressively and today I have seen that the things went good despite I still think that I am at 60% of my level. Today we got a good setting to face the first GP of the season thanks to the job done with Simon Bleasdale, we test a lot of different settings and we have a lot of information, but the good thing is that we set the bike correctly to go fast at the corners and in the straight. I still am quite far from the first rider and I know that we have to work a lot to be at the best level but the important thing is that we did a good job and now we have only to focus in Qatar where is added the excitement of the competition.?

The SAG Team bid farewell to Jerez happy with the progress made

The 3 days of tests that the teams of Moto2 and 125cc had in Jerez de la Frontera was not what they were expecting due to the bad weather.

The SAG Team and his Colombian rider arrived to the Jerez circuit with clear ideas, ride as much as possible to achieve a high performance lap by lap. So now they can face the GP of Qatar with the homework done, Santi rode all he could and more. In the 3rdday of testing the young rider from Medell?n finished 37th, reaching his best lap in 1?45.649, making the same result as yesterday.

GORKA SEGURA (SAG TEAM), Chief mechanic:

?We can say that we finished the Jerez tests positively although we are not satisfied, Santi wasn?t fully concentrating this morning and we could not find a good setting on the front wheel, but finally we fix the problem and we reached the same time as yesterday. We are happy because Santi is in a high level physically and we could accumulate a lot of kilometers, and I am pretty sure that in Qatar Santi is going to make a good result.?

37. SANTIAGO HERN?NDEZ (SAG TEAM), 1?45.649:

?Today I matched the same lap time than yesterday but I needed almost all the day to get it, in the morning I wasn?t at 100% of concentration and it was showed at the times. I think that physically I am perfect and technically I still need some more steps to climb, I think this is for the lack of kilometers. The good thing of the day is that today we get a good setting with which we can face the Qatar GP so I think that we can make something good there.?

Tech 3 Racing Team complete 2011 preperations in Jerez
The Tech 3 Racing Team will head to the first round of the 2011 Moto2 World Championship in Qatar later this month in optimistic mood having completed its pre-season preparations in Jerez today.

After the first day of the Jerez test fell victim to more heavy rain that has caused major disruption to the winter testing schedule, Bradley Smith and Mike di Meglio were able to take advantage of improved conditions for the final two days to carry out vital development work on the new Mistral 610 machine.

Smith worked tirelessly to improve his confidence with the race set-up of his machine, the British rider completing in excess of 160-laps to also help build up his experience of t he heavier and more powerful 600cc four-stroke machine ahead of his debut season in the ultra-competitive Moto2 series.

Smith was particularly impressive on the second day, the 20-year-old outpacing a host of riders with significantly more Moto2 experience to clock the sixth best time with a 143.997. He was 15th quickest on the final day and while unable to improve his best lap time, he was able to produce a much more consistent pace in full race trim having worked closely on a range of settings with crew chief Tom Jojic.

Frenchman Mike di Meglio was also satisfied with his performance, the former World 125cc Champion spending most of his time concentrating on improving his pace and confidence with the harder option Dunlop rear tyre. Like Smith, di Meglio was able to assess and analyse a wide range of set-up options to get a clear understanding of the direction he will take when the season kicks off under the Lo sail International Circuit floodlights in Qatar on March 20.

Bradley Smith, 11th overall, 1:43.997:

"I am quite tired now as we did 160 laps in two days but it was hard work we needed to put in and it was definitely worth it. We tested everything we had inside the truck, so we know exactly how the bike is working and in what direction we have to go when the racing kicks off. We did not improve our lap times today, but we improved in the consistency. I was able to ride fast on old tyres, so we are good for the race distance and that has given me a lot of confidence for Qatar. We will try to work a little bit between here and Qatar to figure out how we can close the gap on the front guys. That is going to be important for the best lap time in qualifying. But I am feeling a lot more comfortable with the bike and the 600 is not feeling quite so alien now. We've still got work to do but between now and Qatar we'll analyse a lot of data and come up with a plan for the start of the season. I'm really looking forward to racing now.?

Mike di Meglio, 30th overall, 1:44.884:

"Although the lap times don't reflect it, this test was still positive for us. We worked a lot on the bike and I am much happier today. We spent a lot working on the set-up, particularly to help the bike use the hard tyre better, and I feel we made some steps forward. We have still got a lot of work to do but I know I can also improve my feeling with the bike. I want to thank my guys at Tech 3 Racing again for all their hard work and I'm sure we will be competitive at the first race in Qatar.?

Speed Master Team is all set to kick off 2011 season

Throughout this weekend, Speed Master team took part in the last IRTA test before the beginning of 2011 season at the circuit of Jerez de la Frontera. The weather conditions of these three days were definitely different from the ones of the previous week, when the team participated to some private tests at the Andalusian track. Consequently, Andrea and his mechanics couldn?t use the information previously gathered and, therefore, they took advantage of the sessions at disposal by trying out various modifications to the Suter MMXI machine. The team?s priority was mainly the motorbike setting, to collect some extra data in case of lower temperature and different track conditions.

Andrea Iannone, #29
?In these three days we tested many things on the bike and we tried to develop some aspects that we had just seen superficially in the previous occasions. We didn?t really focus on the lap time, as we already has some interesting answers during the private tests. We managed to do a complete analysis of the machine reactions and performance, when arranging some specific changes, and the information we got is definitely going to be useful during the season. More in general, I can say that this year we had the chance to take part in many tests, and that gives us some useful basic data with which we can deal with the first phases of the Championship. Within a little more than a week, we are going to fly to Qatar and 2011 season will begin: it?s going to be a very interesting year and we will fight to be competitive.?

Marc M?rquez concludes the preseason with good pace

The Repsol rider ends the winter tests with the second fastest time and ready to start the World Championship next March 20 in Qatar

After two days not being able to take full advantage of the tests at the Jerez Circuit, Marc M?rquez could finally get track time on the third and last day of tests scheduled in the Andalusian track. The Repsol rider completed 40 laps with a fastest time of 1 minute, 42 seconds and 980 thousandths, finishing second of the classification.

Despite the menacing clouds that remained over the track the whole day, weather conditions were today warmer than in the past two days, with 20?C ambient temperature and 25?C of track temperature. So, the Repsol rider was able to finish the last training session on a high before travelling to Qatar in two weeks, where the World Championship 2011 will kick off. Marquez completed a productive test session, showing that yesterday?s crash was no more than a mere anecdote.

The Repsol rider did 40 laps with a strong pace, which confirms the 125cc World Champion?s good adaptation to the Moto2 class. Nevertheless, when at about 2pm the wind started to increase and temperatures begin to be colder, Marquez and his team concluded the tests to avoid running under less than ideal conditions.

This was the last time that Marquez got on his bike before the start of the 2011 World Championship at the Qatar circuit of Losail.

Marc M?rquez 1?42.980 s, 40 laps,177 km.
?Today was the last test of the season. I think we can be satisfied with the work we have done. We achieved the objectives we set ourselves every day and that is the most important thing. The overall assessment of this preseason is clearly positive. I feel ever more comfortable on the bike and, despite we still have a lot of work to do, I want to thank all the team members for the great job they are doing.

In the morning we were finally able to enjoy better conditions. We set a good time, although that was not our main aim. About the long runs, we can also be satisfied, as we have been fairly consistent. At Qatar everything will be different, as it is a completely new circuit with the Moto2 and we will be with the rest of the riders of the class. We will see there how things really go?.

Emilio Alzamora Team Manager
?The preseason has finished and the real game is approaching. The weather conditions were not really good for us in the last test sessions, and that prevented us from completing the kilometres we had scheduled. The evaluation of the preseason is very positive but we have to follow the same path. Now Marc knows all the team and how they work and he is familiarized with the Moto2.

He still has a lot to learn but his evolution is good about braking references, how to open gas when going out of the corners, the trajectories, etc. We have to face the challenge of each circuit, as all of them will be new for us, but our aim is to finish races and gather experience?.
